Definitions
- the invention relates to a method for closing a screwed container mouth with a screw cap made of elastic plastic material with a corresponding thread, as well as a screw cap with thread for closing a container mouth and a closure arrangement for closing a container mouth.
- screw caps and methods for closing container mouths are known and customary.
- the screw cap is placed on the container mouth and then screwed on with a screw-on head with predeterminable torque.
- Such screw caps are e.g. described in the applicant's German patent applications P 25 29 289 and P 28 11 741.
- Screw-on heads for closing containers with such screw caps are e.g. from the applicant's German patent application P 28 52 150.8.
- these screw caps have proven extremely successful. In particular, they are superior in certain fields of application to the "snap-on" closures known from US Pat. No. 3,223,269 (HW Williams). This is because they have threads with a pitch that differs from the bottle thread pitch. On the one hand, this means that there is no flat, but only a selective, thread contact, and on the other hand, tilting of the cap on the container neck is likely.
- the depth of penetration of the inner seal randomly into the bottle neck, so that the inner wall of the bottle neck must be designed as a sealing part over a relatively wide area.
- head seals are advantageous, at least as an additional seal, particularly in the case of beverages containing CO 2 .
- the invention has for its object to further improve the known screw-on method, as well as the screw caps, by simplifying the screw-on process, using technically simpler and less service-demanding mounting tools, and that the closing process can be completed in a much shorter period of time, and that the use of head or mouth edge seals is possible.
- this object is primarily achieved in that the screw cap is first placed in a prepositioning position on the container mouth, which corresponds to the angular end position of the screw cap relative to the container mouth when the container is closed, and then that the screw cap is vertical over the threads of the Container mouth is snapped and pressed into the disfigurement.
- the screw cap can be positioned by mechanically scanning the two threads. It is also conceivable to make a mark on the container mouth and on the screw cap, which then e.g. is scanned by electro-optical or electromagnetic means and used for positioning.
- the pre-positioning can already take place in the screw cap feed device that is usually used.
- the invention can be implemented particularly advantageously if the screw cap is first placed on the container mouth without any positioning and is then turned into the prepositioning position.
- the twisting can be done without applying a larger torque.
- the relative position of the container mouth and screw cap can also be jointly determined during prepositioning.
- the method according to the invention can be carried out particularly advantageously if the screw cap has an elastic stop which engages the container mouth and can be overcome by applying a closing pressure, which is dimensioned such that the screw thread is partially engaged in the stop position and when the stop position of the prepositioning position corresponds.
- the arrangement of the stop on the screw cap obviously makes expensive prepositioning devices superfluous. and it is also not necessary, if possible, to adapt the container mouth specifically.
- the stop represents a simple lock, which secures the screw cap on the container mouth against further rotation and holds it in the prepositioning position such that the threads of the screw cap can be snapped over the threads on the container mouth by applying a vertical pressure, the closing process being completed becomes.
- the screw cap according to the invention can be realized particularly advantageously if the stop is formed by a sealing part which comes into engagement with the bottle neck during closure.
- the sealing part which is present in many screw caps anyway can also be used as a stop, so that the screw cap according to the invention can be implemented without additional measures or elements.
- Particularly good centering and adaptation of the sealing section to the stop function can be achieved if the sealing section is an inner seal that lies against the inner wall of the neck of the container.
- the screw cap can be placed and centered particularly reliably on the bottle if a screw cap with a multiple thread is used.
- a screw cap 1 has an internal thread 2 and an annular inner seal 3. After hanging up on a container mouth 4, the passages of the interior are winds 2 on the gears of an external thread 5 at the container mouth. By slightly turning the screw cap 1 in the closing direction, the internal thread 2 partially engages with the external thread 5 and rests on a pressure point 6 at the beginning of the two threads. A further screwing of the screw cap 1 onto the container mouth 4 is no longer possible because the inner seal 3 rests elastically on the inner edge 7 of the container mouth at the same time.
- the screw cap 1 is fixed on the container mouth 4 in a preposition, nierposition (Fig. 3), in which the screw cap 1 in its angular position relative to the container mouth 4 already assumes the angular end position which the end position after the screw cap has been completely unscrewed 1 would correspond.
- the elastic resistance of the inner seal 2 abutting the inner edge 7 can now be overcome, the latter being pressed into the container mouth 4 and at the same time the threads of the external thread 5 being pressed over the threads of the internal thread 2.
- the container mouth 4 is thus closed by the screw cap 1, without any other torque being applied than the low torque required for the pre-positioning.
- the elasticity of known plastics, such as are already used today for screw caps, allows the internal thread 2 to “snap” over the external thread 5 without further ado.
- Fig. 4 shows a modified embodiment in which no Inrrendtchtung, but only a head seal 8 engaging on the end face of the container mouth 4 is provided.
- Two projections 9 between adjacent threads 10 and 11 serve as a stop here.
- the projections 9 are made of the same plastic as the screw cap 1 and prevent the counter-threads 12 of the container mouth 4 from penetrating freely.
- the resistance of the projections 9 can be easily adjusted by appropriate dimensioning and choice of material.
- an inner seal 3 FIG. 1
- the head seal 2 can advantageously be provided in order to improve the sealing effect during storage.
- the advantages of the invention become particularly apparent since the pre-positioning ensures that the threads 10 and 11 are in such a secure contact with the counter-threads 12 that the function of the head gasket 8 remains fully guaranteed.
- Fig. 5 shows schematically how the screw caps 1 can be placed on a plurality of containers 13 in a filling line.
- the containers 13 run in a known manner on a conveyor belt 14 which is moved on in time with a screw cap placement head 15.
- the individual screw caps 1 are placed on the container 13 by a magazine 16.
- the container mouths are passed so close to a friction arm 17 that it comes into contact with the screw caps 1.
- the coefficient of friction of the friction arm 17 is selected such that when the container 13 is advanced, the screw caps 1 are rotated slightly clockwise until the rotary movement is interrupted by the engagement of the stop (inner seal 3 or projections 9).
- the screw caps 1 are thus in the prepositioning position.
- the screw caps 1 slide along the friction arm 17 without any further rotary movement taking place finds.
- the pre-positioning is thus carried out in the simplest way and without the need for a complex arrangement.
- FIG. 6 and 7 show a screw cap 1, in which a plurality of tongues 19 are provided as a stop, which project approximately horizontally into the cap opening.
- the screw cap 1 When the screw cap 1 is screwed onto a container mouth 4 with an external thread 5 (FIG. 1), the tongues 19 initially rest on the upper edge of the container mouth 4 and fix the screw cap 1 in the prepositioning position. By applying a vertical closing pressure, or by overcoming the elastic resistance of the tongue 19, the screw cap 1 can then be completely applied to the container mouth 4.

Abstract
Description
Williams) bekannten "Snap-On" closures überlegen.
- Fig. 2 die Schraubkappe gemäss Fig. 1 in Vorpositionierstellung,
