ANTIDACHBEMOOSUNGSVORRICHTUNG Description
ANTI-ROOF MOSS DEVICE
The innovation concerns an anti-moss device to prevent moss growth on a roof surface consisting of roof tiles.
Problems with moss formation and moss growth on roof surfaces often occur with roof tiles made of concrete materials and with asbestos cement panels or other materials. After a while, a coating of moss accumulates on the usually rough surface. This moss growth is not very good for visual reasons, but the persistent moisture on the roof surface also attacks the surface of the roof tiles. For this reason, unprotected roof tiles have a shorter service life. Furthermore, if the roof is heavily covered with moss, there is a risk that gutters and drainpipes could become blocked by the moss coming off.
Up to now, according to the state of the art, this moss growth process has been prevented by either complex, expensive and unsightly coatings of roof tiles or roof coverings have been proposed to prevent moss growth (see, for example, paper proposal in utility model roll number G 90 05 044.4), which due to their construction reveal weathered large-area copper profiles or copper strips after a short time to an observer standing directly next to the house and thus do not represent an elegant and sensible solution for a roof de-mossing device for optical reasons.
Therefore, this innovation sets itself the task of creating an anti-moss roof device that prevents detrimental roof moss from occurring or removes roof moss that has already occurred and, at the same time, the actual device is hardly recognizable from the outside for optical reasons.
The problem is solved by arranging a pipe made of copper material along the edge of a row of roof ridges across the entire width of the roof surface. This new arrangement of a pipe provides a very simple, almost "invisible" device for removing moss from the roof. In addition, the proposed "invisible" anti-moss roof device is a very cost-effective solution and can be easily installed by non-professionals.

By installing a copper pipe directly on the edge of the roof ridge or a row of roof tiles in the immediate vicinity of the roof ridge, the roof surface is washed down with a liquid containing copper ions when it rains, for example from the edge of the roof ridge, and no plants grow on the roof surface. The innovation is based on the already known idea that copper ions are detrimental to all types of plants. However, by gradually washing out a copper pipe or rod with a small diameter and thus a small surface area, the dose remains very low and is therefore environmentally friendly. As a result, the rainwater itself is almost uncontaminated and can therefore be drained into the sewer system as before without any further precautions. Despite the low dose, however, roof moss is prevented because the roof is washed over with copper solution every time it rains.
In order to be able to attach the copper pipe to the edge of the roof turret, several suspensions are conceivable and possible. For example, the copper pipe can be hooked into a loop or tab made of plastic or into a hook made of copper at equal intervals. Such a copper hook is then in turn attached to the upper edge of the top row of roof tiles. Plastic loops can, for example, be attached to a roof turret seat, which is used today for the purpose of ventilation under the actual roof turret.
Instead of arranging a copper pipe only on the edge of the roof ridge, which provides completely sufficient protection against moss on gable roofs, for example, these roof ridge edges equipped with copper pipes can be additionally supported by copper pipes arranged on the edges of rows of roof tiles on hip roofs. It makes sense to install this type of anti-moss device on rows of roof tiles on triangular roof surfaces of a hip roof.
The same satisfactory anti-moss roof results can be achieved if a rod is used instead of a tube and a square profile is used instead of a round profile, whereby a wide variety of copper alloys are also suitable with regard to the copper material.
Hierbei zeigtFurther advantageous embodiments of the innovation are the subject of the subclaims and are explained and described in more detail below with reference to the description of three embodiments shown in the drawing by means of five figures.

Fig. 6 eine Steckverbindung zweier Kupferrohrelemente.Fig. 6 a plug connection of two copper pipe elements.
In Fig. 1, the upper area of a roof surface (1) near the ridge turret is shown in a dimetric perspective. The upper end is closed off by a row of ridge turrets (5) and extends in the width direction along arrow B. The roof surface (1) consists of roof tiles. According to the innovation, a copper pipe (4) is arranged along the edge of the ridge turrets (5), which extends over the entire width of the roof surface (1) according to arrow B. When it rains, the arrangement of the pipe causes copper ions to be washed out by the rainwater. These in turn flow downwards, so that plant seeds, in particular moss particles, that have settled on the roof surface (1) are washed away and killed by the copper ions. This even prevents the beginning of moss growth on the roof surface (1). It goes without saying that a copper pipe (4) is also arranged in a similar way on the rear roof surface compared to Fig. 1. How the copper pipes (4) are held can be seen in Fig. 2, which shows a cross-section through a roof truss in the upper area with roof covering. The copper pipes (4) are hooked into the upper edge of the top row of roof tiles (2) under the roof ridge row (5) using copper hooks (11). Fig. 6 shows a plug connection of two copper pipe elements (10). Because different roof lengths require a grid system for the copper pipe elements (10), e.g. 0.5/1/1.5/2/3 meter pieces, the copper pipe elements (10) must be able to be easily connected to one another. For this purpose, a design is useful in which a copper pipe element (10) is compressed on one side, e.g. over a length of 10 cm, to the inner diameter of the same element, in order to be able to join individual pieces together as shown in Fig. 6.

Another useful application for the arrangement of a copper rod (3) is shown in Fig. 3. Fig. 3 shows a schematic roof surface (1) with a skylight (6) in a dimetric view. The skylight (6) prevents the rainwater mixed with copper from the edge of the roof ridge from protecting the roof tiles below the skylight from moss. In order to also protect these parts of the roof surface from moss growth, the arrangement of a copper rod (3) directly on the edge of the row of roof tiles running under the window (6) is suitable. This procedure is generally suitable for obstacles in the roof surface (1) with regard to the drainage of the rainwater mixed with copper towards the edge of the roof.
Another possible application is the arrangement of a copper round rod (3) as shown in Fig. 4. Fig. 4 shows a schematic triangular roof surface of a hip roof in front view. In hip roofs, the triangular roof surfaces (1), in contrast to the rectangular roof surfaces limited at the top by ridge turrets, cannot be protected from moss growth by a single device as in Fig. 1. Therefore, in this case, copper round rods (3) are arranged along the edge of a row of roof tiles (2) in the area of the tip of the triangular roof surface (1) and along the edge of a row of roof tiles in the middle area of the roof surface (1). In Fig. 5, the fastening of a copper rod (3) by means of a hook (11) to the edge of a row of roof tiles (2) is shown in a cross section. Protection of the entire triangular roof surface (1), especially the corners, from rainwater mixed with copper is ensured by the fact that the copper liquid also reaches these critical points sufficiently through winds from different directions.
