Bei Holzschrauben und vielen anderen Arten von Schrauben bildet die Bodenfläche der
Rinnen zwischen den Gewindegängen eine schraubenförmige Cylinderfläche. Diese Fläche,
welche oft mehr als die Hälfte der Fläche. des ganzen Schraubenschaftes erreicht, trägt zum
Halt der Schraube nur durch die Reibung bei.
Bei einer Schraube von gegebenem Durchmesser und einem Gewinde von gegebener
Form und Gröfse hängt die Steigung des Gewindes von der Breite der Rinne ab, und eine
Verbreiterung derselben vermehrt die Fläche, deren Wirksamkeit für den Halt der Schraube
verhältnifsmäfsig unbedeutend ist. Bei der dargestellten Schraube wird nun auch die
Bodenfläche der Rinne zur Vergröfserung des Haltes der Schraube im Holz- oder Muttergewinde
ausgenutzt, indem auf der Bodenfläche der Nuth zur Achse der Schraube geneigte Flächen geschaffen werden, welche einer Längsbeanspruchung
der Schraube Widerstand entgegensetzten. Solche Flächen können als
schwächere bezw. flache Hülfsgewinde ausgebildet werden, in Vergleich zu dem gröberen
bezw. scharfen Gewindej welches tiefer in das Holz oder in. das Muttergewinde eindringt.
Nach Fig. 1 und 2 ist ein flaches rechteckiges Gewinde b auf dem Boden der Nuth
zwischen den Gängen α des Hauptgewindes angebracht. Nach Fig. 3 reicht das Hülfsgewinde
b bis zur Spitze. In Fig. 4 bis 6 sind verschiedene Formen für die Schraubenspitze dargestellt.
Diese niedrigen vorspringenden Flächen, wenn sie auch an sich für die Einführung der
Schraube in das Holz nicht wirksam sein können, vermehren doch wesentlich den Widerstand
der Schraube gegen Längsbeanspruchung.
