Chem. Centralbl. 1924, I., 6.17), technisch zugänglich. Beispiel i. iSoo
o-DitolyIamin in guter Ausbeute übergeht.Process for the production of diarylamines. It has been found that diarylamines are obtained in a simple and smooth manner if nuclear chlorine substitution products of benzene hydrocarbons are allowed to act on the alkali metal compounds of primary aromatic amines, optionally in the presence of a catalytically active substance such as copper or its compounds. Compared to the already known methods for producing diarylamines, such as heating an aromatic amine with a chlorohydrate of another amine or reacting an aromatic amine with bromobenzene or bromotoluene, the present process offers the advantage of being made from cheap starting materials such as chlorobenzene or other nuclear chlorine substitution products Benzene hydrocarbons to lead to uniform products. A whole series of substituted diphenylamines are only technically accessible through this process, the smooth course of which could not be foreseen without further ado (cf. Chem. Centralbl. 1924, I., 6.17). Example i. 100 parts of dry o-toluidine and 1 part of copper powder are heated to 175 to 180 ° C. Gradually, 14o parts of finely chopped sodium are added, whereupon the mixture is heated to 16o to igo "C for a long time until the alkali metal has disappeared. After the addition of 750 parts of dry o-chlorotoluene in a closed vessel, the reaction mass is heated to 25o for 2.4 hours Heated to 300 ° C., then allowed to cool, the crude oil, freed of any alkali still present by washing with water, is fractionally distilled in vacuo, with pure o-ditolyiamine passing over in good yield above 220 to 230 ° C.
p-Ditolylamin usw. erhalten. In an analogous manner, o-chlorotoluene and aniline or o-toluidine are converted
and chlorobenzene the. o'-tolylphenylamine, from p-chlorotoluene and o-toluidine the o,
p-ditolylamine, etc. obtained.
Beispiel 2.Example 2.
worden ist. Nach einigen Stunden wird das Reaktionsprodukt im Vakuum fraktioniert;
darstellt.3 parts of copper powder are added to ¢ oo parts of o-toluidine and then at 16o to. 170 '32 parts of sodium were added. The reaction mass is kept at this temperature for some time, 22 parts of 2,4-dichlorotoluene are then added, and the temperature is increased to 25 °. 26o ° after the reaction vessel has been closed. After a few hours, the reaction product is fractionated in vacuo; under a pressure of about 20 mm and a temperature of 22o to 23o ° a pale oil distills off, which in all probability represents 3'-chloro-2, q .'- ditblylamine.
