Le bord de ce trou est représenté en plan et en perspective dans les fig. 3 et 5. Treize points a, d, a" ... de sa circonférence sont considérés comme atteints par autant de paiticudes d'eau qui, libérées dans Patmosphàre, tendent à ;
On
Enfin,
on s'explique que le jet d'eau obtenu ne soit pas formé d'une seule napps de gouttelettes, vu que, :à chaque inclinaison des résultantes r' et r" de la fig. 5, pourrait corres pondre une .autre nappe conoïdale à l'intérieur de la plus grande en diamètre. La circonférence C tracée en fig. 3 est purement imaginaire et d'un diamètre arbitraire ;
Apparatus for the production of a conoidal water jet The present invention relates to an apparatus for the production of a conoidal water jet, in which at least one pressurized water supply duct terminates in a hollow body provided with water outlet means and the inner peripheral surface of which has a shape of revolution.
This apparatus is characterized in that said duct opens into this hollow body in a direction admitting a tangential component and at a location located at a distance from one of the walls axially limiting this hollow body,
which wall is perforated along the axis of the peripheral surface, in that said hollow body contains a tubular member arranged along said axis,
.in that at least one opening is provided in each of the end parts of this member, and in that the latter is arranged so that it communicates with the atmosphere by the opening of its end closest to the perforated wall,
so that the water rotated by said surface of revolution enters this tubular member through the opening of the opposite end to take on a movement with an axial component while moving there until it escapes into the atmosphere.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, two embodiments of the apparatus forming the subject of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a front view of the first embodiment.
Fig. 2 is a section taken along the plane 11-11 of FIG. 1.
Fig. 3 is a geometric and schematic construction explaining the operation. Fig. 4 is a partial sectional view showing the second embodiment, the section being of the same kind as FIG. 2, double scale.
Fig. 5 is an explanatory geometric construction.
The apparatus shown in Figs. 1 and 2 comprises a hollow body 3 of generally cylindrical shape into which ends a conduit 2 for supplying pressurized water in a direction admitting a component tangential to the internal peripheral surface 3a of the
hollow body, parallel to the walls 3b and 3c which limit this body axially, and at a place located at a distance from the wall 3b.
Along the axis A of this body is disposed a tubular or gane 5 mounted in a 3d cannon solidaim of the wall 3b which is axially perforated with a hole 4. Near its end opposite this wall, this member 5 has four openings 6 of its cylindrical side wall.
With the value of the water speed V at the inlet, these elements determine the operation partially represented by schematic figures 3 and 5.
The oblique and successive impacts of the water against the surface 3a determine a rotation of its particles around the axis A in which all the particles external to the member 5 all have speeds <RTI
ID = "0001.0161"> each admitting a tangential component and an .axial component directed towards the axis A.
The existence of the speed V assuming a steady state with evacuation of water, through the single orifice 4, the member 5 is constantly full, .au. less in part,
a water which penetrates there more or less obliquely through the openings 6 and which takes an axial component movement there while moving towards the hole 4.
The edge of this hole is shown in plan and in perspective in FIGS. 3 and 5. Thirteen points a, d, a "... of its circumference are considered to be affected by as many paiticudes of water which, released in the atmosphere, tend to;
move there in a dignified straight line following the direction of a speed r that they have at their exit from the orifice.
We see in fig. 5 da component w parallel to the axis A and the parallelogram of its composition with the tangential speed v as well as with its tangential speeds v 'and v "smaller because they are those of water particles emerging from points b and c closer to the axis than the point a of the edge of the orifice.
can indeed admit that the component parallel to the axis is practically the same for all these particles while the tangential components of their velocities are proportional to their distances from the axis.
We see that the resultants r, 'and r "corresponding to the points b and c of the same radius R are less inclined than the resultant r, velocity of an external particle of the jet of water 10 whose general shape, at least at the start of the orifice and -abstraction made of gravity, is that of a hyperboloid of revolution.
Just as the straight lines r diverge from each other downwards, the continuous sheet formed at the start tends to break up and to subdivide into droplets as its diameter increases to the detriment of its thickness. Finally,
it is understandable that the water jet obtained is not formed of a single layer of droplets, since: at each inclination of the resultants r 'and r "of FIG. 5, another layer could be laid. conoidal inside the larger in diameter The circumference C plotted in Fig. 3 is purely imaginary and of arbitrary diameter;
it only defines the horizontal plane up to which we consider the shower jet 10 directed downward and that gravity contributes to deforming by reducing its flaring that it would on the contrary increase @if the jet were directed upward, < B> ce which may be the case when used as a decorative garden element.
The ratio of the speeds v and w at the outlet determines, with the slope of the external resultants r, the general degree of flaring of the jet in the vicinity of its outlet. From a certain value of the speed V, determined by a valve (not shown) of the pipe 2, this ratio is constant.
An increase in this speed or in the pressure in the pipe 2 increases the flow rate of the jet without modifying its external shape.
In the second form, the execution shown in FIG. 4, the water outlet orifice, designated by 8, is a hole made in a bottom that presents a tubular member 5a, the opposite end 6a of which is open and is separated from the wall 3c by a space 9.
The axial hole 4a of the base 3b is made in an internal boss 3 d of this base and has an internal thread 3f into which an external thread 7 of the end of the member 5a is screwed. As in the example of fig. 2, the water supply duct 2 opens out practically tangentially to the wall 3a and is located at a distance D from the wall 3b.
The apparatus described can of course be constructed from any suitable rigid material, metallic or synthetic. The inner member 5, 5a could have come in one piece with the bottom 3b or with the bottom 3c when it has the side holes 6.
The peripheral wall could be more or less conical. The tangential arrival of the duct 2 can be masked by an envelope containing the body 3 and an elbow of the duct such that the latter sorbs radially from this envelope.
