L'appareil représenté aux fig. 1 et 2 comprend un corps creux vertical 1, en forme de caisson allongé ouvert à ses extrémités inférieure et supérieure; son orifice inférieure débouche dans un distributeur alvéolaire rotatif 2, de type connu, fixé à l'extrémité inférieure du corps 1 tandis qu'à l'extrémité supé rieure du corps 1 est fixée une virole cylindrique 3 qui lui est coaxiale et dont le diamètre est égal à celui de cette extrémité supérieure;
Apparatus for dry dedusting a gas stream The present invention relates to an apparatus for dry dedusting a gas stream by centrifugation, without a moving member, of the particles to be separated conveyed by this stream, comprising a vertical exterior body. and hollow, with a circular cross section, provided at its upper end with a tangential entry orifice for the gas stream to be purified.
This device is distinguished by the fact that inside this body and coaxially with it is a central duct of circular cross section, thus forming with the body a channel of annular section for the circulation of the vein, this central duct being provided at its upper end with an outlet opening of the vein, the assembly being arranged so that the vein can penetrate from the annular channel into the central duct.
By way of example, the attached drawing shows an embodiment of the apparatus, object of the invention and of the variants.
In this drawing: fig. 1 is an elevational view, with cutaway and partial section of the apparatus, facing the inlet and outlet openings; fig. 2 is a corresponding plan view, in section along line II-II in FIG. 1; fig. 3 is a perspective view, with partial cutouts, of a variant provided with a filter; and fig. 4 is an elevational view, with partial cutouts, of another variant similar to that of FIG. 3, but the lower part of which is fitted with a pressure relief pot for collecting impurities.
The apparatus shown in Figs. 1 and 2 comprises a vertical hollow body 1 in the form of an elongated box open at its lower and upper ends; its lower opening opens into a rotary honeycomb distributor 2, of known type, fixed to the lower end of the body 1 while at the upper end of the body 1 is fixed a cylindrical shell 3 which is coaxial with it and whose diameter is equal to that of this upper end;
this ferrule 3 constitutes the outlet duct of a cylindrico-spiral chamber 4, which is composed of a side wall 5, fixed to two ends perpendicular to the common axis of the body 1, and of the ferrule 3. The wall 5 which constitutes the lateral surface of the chamber 4 is the lateral surface of a right cylinder of directrix in the form of a logarithmic spiral (fig. 2), the pole of which is situated on the axis of the ferrule 3. This spiral wall s 'extends over a full turn from the edge of the ferrule 3 where its end closest to the axis is located.
This point is a cusp of the side wall of the chamber 4, the wall of which the spiral part is extended by a rectilinear part 6, substantially tangent to the spiral part at its end. At its end furthest from the axis, the spiral wall 5 is extended by a rectilinear part 8, parallel to part 6, and these two extensions 6 and 8 delimit with the bottoms of the chamber 4 a tube 9, bordered a flange 10, intended for connecting this chamber to an inlet pipe for a gas to be dusted.
This chamber 4 is crossed right through by a cylindrical 11 of axis coincident with the general axis of the device and which extends inside the ferrule 3 until it penetrates slightly through its lower end, open , in the upper part of the frustoconical body 1. The diameter of this duct 11 is notably smaller than that of the ferrule 3, so as to define therewith an annular conduti sufficiently wide for the passage of the gaseous mass which has entered chamber 4 through the inlet pipe 9.
The upper end of the pipe 11 constitutes the outlet pipe of another chamber 12, with a side wall formed, like that of chamber 4, by a cylindrical surface with a directional shape. logarithmic spiral, the axis of the cylinder being coincident with the general axis of the device and the pole of the spiral being located on this axis.
This chamber 12 is carried by the chamber 4 on the bottom of which is fixed a flange 13 formed on the duct 11. the orifice 14 formed between the bottoms of the chamber 12 and the ends of the spiral part of the side wall of the chamber 12, in the same way as the orifice 9 of the chamber 4, serves as the outlet orifice of this chamber 12.
The operation is as follows: the gaseous mass to be purified is sucked through the device or blown through it; in both cases it enters through the orifice 9 and circulates in the chamber 4 from which it exits in the form of a vortex through the annular orifice delimited by the ferrule 3 and the cylindrical duct 11.
Due to the shape given to chamber 4, the flow therein is of the velocity potential type and is energy-conservative, so that the tangential velocities of the different layers of the vortex formed are inversely proportional. at the distance of these layers from the axis and at this increase in tangential speed, from the periphery to the axis,
is associated with a correlative decrease in pressure. This increase in tangential speed results in a powerful centrifugation of the particles to be separated conveyed by the gaseous mass, which are thus projected towards the wall of the shell 3, at the same time as they are entrained. downward by the axial component of the vortex movement. Coming out of this wise ring finger,
the vortex formed penetrates into the upper part of the frustoconical body 1 where it is progressively tightened, which further increases its tangential speed of rotation at the same time as it is communicated to the fluid a centripetal radial speed, which also goes in s' increasing in a manner inversely proportional to the distance between the axis and the considered points of the vortex.
Due to the appearance of -This radial component, the flow velocity which was initially vertical gradually rises as it approaches the horizontal, which it ends up exceeding when the axial velocity vanishes then s' reverse as a result of the static pressure prevailing in the lower part of the body, to then flow from the bottom up and produce the flow of the vortex from the bottom up through the duct 11.
It is the progressively acquired radial velocity which, by this progressive curvature, becomes the vertical velocity of flow from bottom to top. -This inversion of the flow speed promotes the separation of the particles conveyed by the gas stream to be dusted, because they tend, due to their greater inertia -than that of the gas streams,
to continue their downward vertical trajectory despite this curvature of the gas streams. Inside the chamber 12 the axial flow velocity of the vortex changes gradually, by progressive curving, into a decreasing radial velocity as the vortex unwinds to form a translational vein escaping through the tubing. 14.
Since the distance from the axis of the apparatus to the axis of the outlet pipe 14 is less than the distance between the axis of the apparatus and the axis of the inlet pipe 9, the stream of purified gas leaves through the orifice 14 at a speed greater than the inlet speed of the stream to be purified in the inlet orifice 9, but at a pressure lower than that of the latter, this by as much more than the passage section of the pipe 14 is greater than the section of the inlet pipe 9.
the energy thus made available in the form of an increase in the dynamic force of the vein with a corresponding drop in the temperature of the latter, is used to overcome the frictional resistance in the downstream piping, which reduces d 'as much the motive energy to be expended to circulate the mass of gas to be purified. The kinetic energy thus used to overcome downstream friction is moreover recovered, in part, in the gaseous mass in the form of an increase in temperature and pressure thereof.
In the embodiment shown in FIG. 3, the apparatus comprises .a cylindrical outer hollow body of revolution 16, on the upper end of which rests a flat hollow body 17 formed of two parallel planar bases 18 and 19, perpendicular to the axis of the body 16, and d 'a lateral surface 20 having as directrix a logarithmic spiral, the pole of which is situated on the axis of the cylindrical hollow body 16 or in the vicinity of this axis.
The area of the surface 20 closest to the center constitutes a wall cusp which is continued by a surface substantially parallel to the part of the surface 20 farthest from the axis, delimiting with it and the two bottoms 18 and 19 a pipe 21 terminated by a flange 22 for connection to an inlet pipe not shown in the drawing.
The lower part of the cylindrical hollow body 1f is extended by a conical hollow body 23, the lower part of which is terminated by a flange 24 allowing its connection to any discharge system (or honeycomb distributor).
The hollow body 17 is crossed, over its entire height, by a cylindrical shell 25, the axis of which is the locus of the centers of the spirals of cross section of the body 17.
The lower orifice of the ferrule or cylinder 25 is connected, by means of a seal 26, to the upper orifice of a filter cylinder 27 around which circulates, by swirling, the stream of fluid to be purified.
The upper orifice of the ferrule, or cylinder, 25 supports another flat hollow body, or volute, 28 arranged in the same manner as the hollow body 17 and having a lateral discharge pipe 29. However, while the vector rays of the spiral of the body 17 go in crescent, by turning in the anti-clockwise direction, the vector rays of the spiral of the body 28 grow in turn in the same direction of clockwise.
Inside the cylindrical body 16 and coaxially with it is the filter cylinder 27, the lower end 30 of which may be planar or frustoconical.
The filter cylinder 27 communicates, through the intermediary of the connection cylinder 25, with the volute 28 serving to discharge the filtered fluid.
The wall of the filter cylinder 27 is permeable over its entire height. It can be of any suitable material, for example, of flexible filtering fabric, or of perforated sheet.
The operation of this filter apparatus is as follows: The stream of fluid to be filtered enters the apparatus through the upper pipe 21 and flows into the converging spiral body 17, where the stream passes, in accordance with the rules of vortex-well-type flow, in the vortex state, the tangential speed of which increases from the periphery towards the center, as does its axial flow speed.
The aforementioned vortex enters the annular space existing between the external hollow cylindrical body 16 and the internal filtering cylinder 27, the porous wall of which it traverses, according to the laws of vortex-well flow, to gain the air. interior space of the filter cylinder 27 and form a flow of the source-vortex type which rises towards the hollow body 28 which discharges it through the pipe 29.
The particles which have not been able to pass through the porous wall of the central filtering cylinder 27 fall progressively, while swirling, into the truncated collecting cone 23 where they are deposited.
Note that the filtering surface of the central cylinder 27 is constantly swept by the fluid to be purified, the suspended impurities of which somehow bombard the particles clinging to the filtering surface and which fall off, thus causing them to descend progressively towards the lower part. top manifold of the device.
The device is therefore not likely to be matted neck as is the case with devices used to date and which require very frequent unclogging, by shaking the filtering wall or by reversing the direction of flow. .
Furthermore, the speed of the fluid along the filtering surface is greater than 20 m / s, which corresponds to the turbulent type flow defined by the corresponding Reynold number and called the Blasius type flow.
Under these conditions, the fluid streams are subjected to vibrations and to undulations which are communicated to the filtering wall, a phenomenon which also opposes the clogging of the wall.
The apparatus shown in FIG. 4 is similar to that of FIG. 3; it has been shown with the same reference numerals and it will therefore not be described in detail. It differs from the previous apparatus only in that the lower part of the conical collector 23 is connected to an expansion pot 31 which acts as a trap for particles to be stopped.
