Process for the production of a metal-containing monoazo dye It has been found that a new valuable chromium-containing monoazo dye is obtained if one uses a monoazo dye of the formula
EMI0001.0010
Chromium-releasing agents can act in such a way that the chromium complex of the corresponding o.o'-dioxymonoazo dye is created, which contains one atom of chromium complexed per molecule of dye.
The new chromium-containing monoazo dye is a dark colored substance when dried; which dissolves in dilute sodium carbonate solution and in concentrated sulfuric acid with a reddish-tinged blue color, and wool from sulfuric acid bath has a pure reddish-tinged color. colors in blue tones.
The in the present process as starting materials, the above formula ent speaking monoazo dyes can be Herge provides by a diazotized 2-alkoxy-5-methoxy-4-chloro-1-aminobenzene with 8-chloro-1-oxynaphthalene-3, 6-disulfonic acid united.
The alkoxy group in the 2-position of the diazo component preferably contains only a few, for example 1 to 4, carbon atoms. The monoazo dye obtainable from diazotized \ n, = dimethoxy-4-chloro-1-aminobenzene proves to be a particularly suitable starting material for the present process.
The diazotization of the 2-alkoxy-5-methoxy-4-chloro-1-aminobenzene can be carried out in a conventional manner known per se, e.g. B. with the help of Na trium nitrite and hydrochloric acid. The coupling of the diazo compound with the 8-chloro-1-oxynaphthalene-3,6-disulfonic acid is conveniently carried out in an alkaline medium. If appropriate, the coupling can also be carried out in the presence of suitable solvents, such as alcohol or pyridine.
When. In the present process, chromium-releasing agents can above all be the salts of trivalent chromium, such as chromium fluoride, chromium sulfates, chromium acetate and chromium formate. The treatment with the chromium-releasing agents is carried out under conditions under which the alkyl radical in the o-position is split off. Azo group located -0-alkyl group takes place.
This elimination with simultaneous formation of the complex Chromverbin training can be carried out according to a known Me method by treating the treatment with the chromium-releasing agent in wäs serigen, preferably mineral acid medium under pressure at elevated temperature, for. B. temperatures between 110 and 1400 C, takes before.
Example: 18.8 parts of 2,5-dimethoxy-4-chloro-1-amino-benzene are diazotized with 7 parts of sodium nitrite in the customary manner in the presence of 30 parts of 30% strength hydrochloric acid. The solution of the diazo compound becomes a with good stirring
A solution of 37 parts of 8-chloro-1-oxynaphthalene-3,6-disulphonic acid and 40 parts of anhydrous sodium carbonate in 400 parts of water, cooled to 10 ° C., is allowed to flow in.
Most of the dye formed precipitates and is filtered off. When dried, it is a dark-colored substance that dissolves in a dilute sodium carbonate solution with ruby red and in concentrated sulfuric acid with a blue color and dyes wool from an acid bath in ruby red tones.
This dye can, advantageously without prior drying, be converted into the complex chromium compound. For this purpose, the paraffin paste obtained according to the above information is stirred with 1000 parts of hot water and 10% strength sulfuric acid is added until a weakly mineral acid reaction occurs.
After adding an amount of chromium sulfate [Cr (OH) S04] containing 5.7 parts of chromium, the reaction mixture is heated to 130 to 135 ° C. in the leaded stirred autoclave and stirred at this temperature for 20 hours. The reaction mixture is filtered off hot to remove minor impurities. The chromium compound formed is separated from the filtrate by adding sodium chloride, filtered off and washed with saturated sodium chloride solution.
