Figs. 13 and 1-1 show, schematically, in vertical section, two variants of fixing the blades to the support, in faith-not of a spring, of the razor head fig. 5 and 6.
The fi-. Finally, 15 is a perspective view showing the general appearance of the razor.
The electric razor shown has the following parts: a handle, made up of de11x shells 1 and 2, for example of a synthetic material, enclosing an electric motor 3 of special construction operating both on direct current and on alternating current. The shells which also take the place of the motor casing are shaped so that they allow the latter to be housed without having to be screwed on.
The motor is fixed only by assembling the shells by means of the three screws 4, 5 and 6, with countersunk head, the last screw 6 being provided with a lead 7, for sealing, in order to prevent any untimely dismantling of the device. The other two screws 4 and 5 are hidden by a ferrule 8 which encloses the front end of the shells and at the same time acts as a resonance damper, while having a decorative appearance.
The motor stator is extended on the side of the collector 9 by an insulating support 10 in which the brushes 11, the bearing 12 of the motor shaft 13 and the switch 14 for the voltage change are housed. The end 15 of the support 10 is arranged to mate with a razor head. This end 15 also serves as a container 16 for collecting the cut hairs.
The motor shaft 13 ends with -the driving member 17, comprising a coil spring 17 '. Which bears on the base of the member and whose upper end 18 is curved, parallel to the axis of the handle , to form a drive finger for the axis of rotation of the knives. The bore of the insulating support 10 is closed by a washer 19, in the form of an annular cover, to prevent the introduction of impurities, hairs, etc., into the interior of the insulating support.
The posterior end of the handle, of ogival shape, is equipped with a flexible cord 20, bipolar, ending in a plug for the socket outlet to the electrical distribution sector, not shown in the drawings.
The front end 15 of the handle is provided with a notch 21 for a bayonet coupling 22 on the razor head that it is to actuate.
Figs. 1, 5 and 6 show an embodiment of a rotary razor head. -This head comprises a support 23, of generally cylindrical shape, the domed bottom of which constitutes the grid 24 which is applied to the surface of the epidermis which is to be shaved.
To the central part of the recess of the support 23 is fixed the axis 25 of rotation of the knives. This axis is provided with a fixing device 26, in the form of a bearing, bearing, lubricant 27, to prevent any heating. The rear end of the axis 25 is for view of a drive piece 28 into which the finger penetrates. 18 of the spring. at bo din 17 '. The front end of the axis 25 is threaded to receive the support 29 of the knives.
On the bottom of the support 29, in the form of a cover, a spring 30 is riveted, cut from a flat disc to form two tapered branches 31 and 32 of springs with antagonistic coils and with opposing steps, each in the form of a semi-circle. conference, starting from a central washer and terminating at one end of which is welded a razor blade 33, 34 respectively, the plan view of which emerges from FIG. 2 and the elevational view -de fig. 5.
The blades, a fraction of a millimeter thick, have the shape of a scimitar in plan and are. inclined, at the weld point, from 20 to 45 relative to the plane of the end of the spring, depending on the thickness of the pile to be cut. The curvature of the knives, constituting the tran chante part, is tangent to the curved part of the grid 24, so that during their rotation, the knives are applied against the inner face of the grid by the centrifugal force of the springs 31, .32 respectively, by producing some braking during travel, so as to establish a balance between the speed of rotation and said braking.
The knives with their fixing device 26 which is retained in the support 23 by arms 35, form a removable assembly which is immobilized by an annular spring 36, embedded in the support 23.
Figs. 13 and 14 show two methods of fixing the knives 33, 34, to the branehes 31, 32 respectively. In the first fi gure, the knife 33 forms, with the branch 31 of the spring and at its point. welding, an angle of about 20 to 45, while in the second figure, it is the branch 31 which is directly curved by a given angle, so that the knife 33 is. welded directly. and in extension of the branch 31. It should be noted that due to the characteristic conformation of the branches 31 and 32 of the res out 30, these act during the march, fan fins, allowing the cooling of the grid 24, against which the knives 33 and 34 rub.
Instead of the rotary shaving head, fig. 5 and 6, we can. use a reciprocating razor head, similar to that shown in fig. 7 and 8. The holder 23 'fits, in the same way as described above, to the anterior end 15 of the razor. The razor blade drive mechanism 37 is the same as for the rotary motion razor head,
with the difference that the axis of rotation 25 'ends at its anterior end by a crank 38 which forms an eccentric to transform the rotary movement into a reciprocating movement.
A special feature of this razor head is the profile of the teeth of the blade 37 and the comb 39 of the razor. In order to better reach the hairs of the beard as close as possible to the epidermis by preventing them from falling back on the scalp, the gap between the teeth is formed by alveoli 40 (fig. 9 and 10), this which allows to obtain a greater cutting capacity. In the same vein, the teeth 41 of the razor blade and of the comb may have a trapezoidal section, as shown in FIGS. 11 and 12.
