Device for inserting different weft threads into a weft-pass loom without a bobbin. The subject of the invention is a device for inserting different weft threads into a bobbin-less weft pass loom.
For the pitch-weft looms without net or needle, fed by large fixed spools of wefts, such devices have already been recommended: for example those in which the presentation members of the different threads are located, for the selection, either behind, or forward, or at the end of the leaf, or still above or below the path of the weft pass when the latter grasps the weft.
These known devices are not practically usable in weaving looms with weft or shuttle without bobbin or needles, operating according to the inventor's weaving process, and described in particular in his Swiss patents no 176605, 183169 185399 and 192292.
It is recalled that, according to this process, the weft thread coming from the spool must, in order to be able to be grasped by the moving weft pass, when the latter enters the shed, be stretched in front of the shed. from the point of facure to which it is still attached, and approximately in the middle of the height of the crowd. .
The device forming the subject of the invention, more particularly applicable to the profession of the inventor, and comprising a series of presentation members for the selection of threads, preferably eyelets, is characterized in that said presentation members are located above the plane of the fabric at the same time as at a certain distance outside the selvedge and beyond the point where the weft pass comes into contact with the weft to be gripped,
as well as approximately two-thirds of the rear travel of the leaf, these presentation members cooperating with a positioning member, mounted on the batten, which positions the portion of yarn selected between the point where the weft pass enters. contact with the weft to be grasped and the presentation member, from the start of the back stroke of the clapper, after threshing of the pick, and which releases the thread towards the end of its forward stroke, prior to threshing of the next pick which comes: to be provided by said thread.
LTne embodiment of the device forming the subject of the invention, applied to a needle loom, is shown, by way of example, in the accompanying drawing.
Fig. 1 is a partial front elevational view of the part of the loom carrying the positive say (chest strap side) showing one of the ends of the leaf; Fig. ? is a. side elevation view, in section along the line. _4-.4 of fig. 1. According to these figures, 1 is the swing, seen from the chest 2 in FIG. 1, in the hitting position of the pick at the. fabric facings 3, 4 being the box or conduit. of the born soul needle, 5 one of the swords and 6 the comb.
7 are oscillating levers, the pivot 8 of which is fixed towards the end of the chest ?, lowering and raising. of these levers, in vertical planes, being provided by means of cams 9 and return springs 10, rollers <B> IL </B> integral with the levers 7, being in contact with the cams 9 which are wedged on a shaft 12 comprising a wheel 13, the chain of which, not shown, passes over a control pinion wedged at the end of the crankshaft shaft of the loom.
These oscillating levers 7 are. willing to. the exterior of the sword 5 and their construction is established in such a way that the members for presenting the weft threads to be selected, constituted by millets, and which are mounted at their end, are located outside the edge of the fabric 3. above the plane of the fabric. beyond the goose point the weft pass comes into contact with the. weft to be gripped and approximately two thirds of the rear travel of said leaf.
In addition, these levers 7 have slightly different lengths and oscillations in order to prevent entanglement of the threads. To facilitate the understanding of the operation of this device, it has been assumed that only two levers 7 with twins 14 and 15 having alternately two different wefts a and b are used, to manufacture a thread by thread fabric, each of these threads ranging from the front point c to its feed spool, passing through its respective millet 14 or 15.
In the embodiment shown (fig. 2), the eyelet 14 and its lever 7 are shown in the raised rest position. the weft thread a not having to be presented to the weft pass. while the willet 15 and its lever 7 are shown in the lowered position 15 'of presentation of the yarn in position b'.
In the following operation, the yarn has in front. be presented, the millet 14 will be lowered at 14 'to present said thread in position a', tan say that the other thread will have returned to the rest position b, its millet before being raised in 15.
To ensure the correction of the presence of the yarn in the path of the weft pass, a positioning finger 16, the point of which is directed towards the rear of the loom, is mounted on the rear face of the leaf.
This finger 16 small being mobile. in order to allow the positioning of the thread to be adjusted more precisely and conveniently according to the type or dimensions of the weft pass used. It may, in this case, be driven by an alternating up-and-down movement, which will also allow, as a result of its movement. descending, lower the levers less 7.
In the device shown, the finger 16, consisting of a polished steel wire, is movable, and its rod-shaped support 17 slides alternately in a slide 18 fixed on the. rear face of the leaf 1, the end of said rod being controlled. for example, by a grooved cam wedged on the shaft serving as an axis for the swords 5, in the case where this shaft actuates the weft-passing needles by the propulsion means usually used in these trades.
The operation of the device described is as follows, starting from the positions given to the different components in the drawing: When the clapper beats the pick (fig.?), The lever 7 to the net 15, which has started to drop , has brought its #illet from the resting position 15 to that 15 ', thus displacing angularly, from the front point c, the yarn to be presented, from position b to that b', to finally bring it in correct position at b ", because said lever 7 completes lowering its #illet in 15", preferably at the instant when the leaf.
1 begins its recoil movement.
By the retreat of the leaf, the tip of the finger 16 passes over the wire b "and said finger is lowered as indicated at 16 '. As a result, the wire is therefore caught and lowered by the finger 16 in position b "'(fig. 1).
At this moment, the portion of the thread between the stitch c and the finger at 16 'is in the correct presentation position in front of the opening of the shed, and in the path traveled by the needle thrown towards the shed .
When the thread is seized by the needle and drawn into the shed, the lever 7 rises to bring the willet to the rest position 15, the thread coming from said #illet remaining hooked by the finger 16. The flapper continuing its rearward travel, the arm of the needle and the finger 16 are brought behind the plane of the eyelet 15, but the thread is forced to go around said finger, which forces it to continue passing between the comb and the arm of the needle. 'needle.
After exchanging the weft thread taken, in the middle of the shed, by the pulling needle to the feed needle, the clapper advances again towards the front and, by this advancement, the finger 16 loses the contact of the wire which, when striking the. pick, will thus find itself stretched directly between the stitching c and the eyelet in the rest position 15.
The other lever 7 began, a little before the strike of the pick, to lower its #illet from the rest position 14, to lead it successively to 14 ', and finally to 14 ", the thread passing successively in <I> a '</I> and <I> â' </I> then being grasped by finger 16 at the beginning of the new rear travel of leaf 1, and so on, alternately for each lever 7.
The number of #illet levers can be more than two; similarly, when the armor requires it, the #illets are actuated by a mechanism of the kind, for example, of those used for commuting, this mechanism being advantageously established to impart to the #illets a movement equivalent to that given by the cams 9.
The finger can be shaped in such a way that, alone or in combination with other very fingers or elements whether or not integral with the same support 17, the equivalent of a weft breaker grid is thus formed, of which the fork is located behind the leaf and supported by the usual lever itself mounted on the frame.
In other embodiments, the levers 7 and the cams 9 could be arranged parallel to the leaf, or else, while remaining disposed perpendicularly to the leaf, as shown, said levers and cams could be located on the side. other side, that is to say towards the rear of the leaf, or even the levers could occupy intermediate positions, but in these different cases the location of the eyelets would remain the same.
As regards the finger 16, when mobile, the latter may be animated by movements other than a reciprocating rectilinear movement, these movements being able to be more or less complex, combined or not, in order to allow said finger to best fulfill its function.
If necessary, in the event that one does not wish to check the presence of the weft on the pulling needle itself, this finger can. furthermore be used as an electric weft breaker, for example by providing it with a suitable lamella which is insulated and which would be held up by the wire.
Finally, the number of levers 7 can be doubled, so as to be able to have two similar threads, which will automatically present the spare thread in the event of breakage or exhaustion of the other thread, without stopping the loom.
It follows from the description given above that it is a combination of positions of presentation members, and if one of these positions, in this set, is not observed, the device cannot operate. in a safe manner due to the speed of the loom. Now, the result obtained by this combination of position is. precisely the possibility of running the loom at high speed, which cannot be achieved with other known devices.
