<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
pratiquement

<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>
<Desc/Clms Page number 8>
<Desc/Clms Page number 9>

"Device for the insertion of the weft in continuous feeding looms".
, The invention relates to looms to pass weft without a bobbin and has for object a device for inserting wefts of different nature, color or kinda
For these bobbin-less or needle-operated shuttle looms, supplied by large fixed spools of wefts, such devices have already been recommended:
for example those in which the presentation members of the various son are located ,, for selection, either behind, or forward, or at the end of the leaf, or even above or below the path of the pass. weft at the moment when this one grabs the weft,
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
practically
These devices cannot be used in bobbin-less or needle-operated shuttle looms operating according to the Applicant's weaving process, and described in particular in its Belgian Patents Nos:
396,467 399,374 - 403. 447 - 409,649. being reminded that, according to this process, the weft thread coming from the spool must, in order to be able to be grasped by the moving weft pass, when the latter enters the shed, be stretched in front of the shed from the point of facade to which it is still attached, and about in the middle of the height of the crowd.
The device forming the subject of the invention, more particularly applicable to the trades of the Applicant, consists, in principle and from a construction point of view, of a series of presentation members for the selection of the yarns (eyelets, preferably ) having the characteristic of being located above the plane of the fabric at the same time as at a certain distance outside the selvedge and beyond the point where the weft pass comes into contact with the weft to be gripped, thus that in a plane corresponding approximately to that in which the leaf passes when it is approximately two-thirds of its rear travel, these presentation members cooperating with a positioning member (finger or hook, preferably) fixed or mobile, dependent of the clapper, and whose role is, in particular,
to check and perfect the correct positioning of the weft thread on the path of the weft pass which must grip it, as well as, ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯

despite the retreat QU beating and ob3.iger the thread to continue to pass between the comb and the weft pass when the latter is formed by a needle *
In order to make the invention clearly understood, and by way of example of an embodiment, an embodiment applied to a needle loom is described below and shown schematically in the appended drawing in which:
Fig. 1 is a partial elevational view of. face of a loom (chest strap side) showing one end of the leaf
Fig. 2 being a side elevational view, in section along the line A-A of FIG. 1.
Knowing these figures, 1 is the clapper, seen from the chest 2, in the hitting position of the pick on the front of the fabric, 3, 4 being the box or conduit of the feed needle 5 one of the swords and 6 the comb.
7 are oscillating levers, the pivot 8 of which is fixed towards the end of the chest 2, the lowering and raising of these levers, in vertical planes, being ensured by means of cams 9 and of springs. return 10, rollers 11, integral with the levers 7, being in contact with the cams 9 which are wedged on a shaft 12 comprising a wheel 13, the chain of which passes over a control pinion wedged at the end of the crankshaft of the loom .
These oscillating levers 7 are arranged outside the sword 5 and their construction is established.
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
in such a way that the members for presenting the weft threads to be selected, constituted in the example by eyelets, and which are mounted at their end, are located outside the edge of the fabric 3, above the flap 1 and approximately two-thirds of the rear stroke of said leaf.
In addition, these levers 7 preferably have slightly different lengths and oscillations in order to prevent entanglement of the threads,
To facilitate understanding of the invention, it has been assumed that only two levers 7 with eyelets 14 and 15 having alternately two different patterns a and b are used to manufacture a thread to thread fabric, each of these threads going from the point face c to its supply reel, passing through its respective eyelet 14 or 15.
In the example shown (freeze 2) the eyelet 14 and its lever 7 are shown in the raised rest position, the weft thread not having to be presented to the weft pass, while the eyelet 15 and its lever 7 are shown in lowered position 15 'of presentation of the wire in position b'.
In the next operation, the thread a to be presented, the eyelet 14 will be lowered at 14 'to present said thread in position a', while the other thread will have returned to the rest position b, its eyelet having been raised at 15 .
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
To ensure the correction of the presentation of the thread in the path of the screen guide, a finger, hook, or other equivalent member, 16, the point of which is directed in the direction of the rear course of the leaf 1, is mounted on the rear face of said leaf
This finger 16 may be mobile, in order to allow the positioning of the yarn to be adjusted more precisely and conveniently according to the type or dimensions of the weft pass used. It may, in this case, be driven by an alternating upward movement. -and-lowering, which will also make it possible, as a result of its downward movement, to lower the levers 7.
In the example shown, the finger 16, consisting of a polished steel wire, is movable, and its rod-shaped support 17 slides alternately in a slide 18 fixed to the rear face of the leaf 1, the end of said rod being controlled, for example, by a ra @ nure cam wedged on the shaft serving as an axis for the swords 5, in the case where this shaft actuates the weft-passing needles by the propulsion means usually used in these trades.
The operation of this device is the suif vant, starting from the positions given to the various members in the drawings.
At the moment when the wing beats the pick (fig. 1) the lever 7 with eyelet 15, which has started to drop, has brought its eyelet from the rest position 15 to that 15 ',
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
thus moving angularly from the point of facing c, the yarn to be presented, from position to that b ', to finally bring it into the correct position at b ", because said lever 7 completes the lowering of its eyelet at 15 ", preferably at the moment when the leaf 1 begins its backward movement
By the retreat of the leaf, the tip of the finger 16 passes over the wire b "and said finger is lowered as indicated in 16 '. As a result the wire is therefore hooked and lowered by the finger 16 in position b"' .
At this moment, the portion of thread between the stitch c and the finger at 16 'is in the correct presentation position in front of the opening of the shed, and in the path traveled by the needle thrown towards the shed.
When the thread is seized by the needle and entered the shed, the lever 7 rises to bring the eye to the rest position 15, the thread coming from said eyelet remaining hooked by the finger 16. The clapper continues its movement. back stroke, the arm of the needle and the finger 16 are brought behind the plane of the eyelet 15, but the thread is forced to bypass said finger which forces it to continue passing between the comb and the arm of the needle. The needle.
After exchanging the weft thread taken, in the middle of the shed, by the pulling needle to the feed needle, the flapper advances again towards the facade and,
<Desc / Clms Page number 8>
by this advancement, the finger 16 loses contact with the wire which; ,, when striking the pick, the vase thus finds itself stretched directly between the point of facure c and the eyelet in the rest position 15.
, The other lever 7 has started, a little before the strike of the pick, to lower its eyelet from the rest position 14, to bring it successively to 14 ', and finally to 14 ", the thread passing successively through a 'and a ", then being gripped by the finger 16 at the beginning of the return stroke of the leaf 1, and so on alternately for each lever 7.
As said, the number of eyelet levers may be greater; likewise * when the armor requires it, the eyelets are actuated by a mechanism of the type, for example, of those used for commuting, this mechanism being advantageously established to impart to the eyelets a movement equivalent to that given by the cams 9. ,
The finger ... can be shaped such that, alone or in combination with other fingers or elements integral or not of the same'support 17, the equivalent of a grid. weft breaker is thus constituted, the fork of which is located behind the leaf and supported by
EMI8.1
the habltuel.Flu-1 - mg-m-e \ lever mounted on the frame.
It is understood that without departing from the spirit of the invention, changes, improvements and additions may be made, as well as the re-use of equivalent means may be considered.
<Desc / Clms Page number 9>
Thus, for example, the levers 7 and the cams 9 could be arranged parallel to the leaf, or else, while remaining arranged perpendicular to the leaf, as shown, said levers and cams could be situated on the other side, that is to say towards the rear of the leaf, or else the levers could occupy intermediate positions, but in these different cases the location of the eyelets would remain the same.
As regards the finger 16, when mobile, the latter can be animated by movements other than the rectilinear - alternating one, these movements being able to be more or less complex, combined or not, in order to allow said finger to fill in the better its function.
If necessary, if you do not want the presence of the weft on the pulling needle itself, this finger can also be used as an electric weft breaker, for example by providing it with a suitably insulated strip. and which would be kept lifted by the wire,
Finally, the number of levers 7 can be doubled in order to be able to have two similar threads, which will automatically present the spare thread @ in the event of the other thread breaking or running out, without stopping the loom *
