<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

DESCRIPTIVE MEMORY filed in support of a request for
PATENT OF INVENTION the company: Wayss & Freytag A. -G. Method and apparatus for the manufacture of stamped parts. "Priority of a patent application filed in Germany on July 3, 1944.
In the manufacture of stamped parts, that is to say of profiled parts, die-cut, from strip or bar material, residual or waste pieces are often formed, which in the stamping operation are also separated by the length of material, but which remain in the path of advancement of the matiene, because they are not ejected by the punch or punch (sometimes called the stamping knife) and prevent therefore the unfettered advancement of matter.
This takes place in particular for the stamping of wedge-shaped pieces from strip material, in which case it is possible without difficulty, by choosing an adequate advancement length, to hold the remaining piece of waste at the end. of advancement after each stamping operation, to the size of the stamped part itself. But even when the so-called decryption piece. but even @@@@@@@
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
Chet, formed each time, at the advancing end, cannot be brought to a special place of use, the problem of disposing of the loose piece of waste material remains in known stamping machines.
The invention solves the problem of eliminating pieces of waste which occur during the manufacture of stamped parts from material, bar or strip or similar prepatory profiles, by the fact that the preparatory profile is pushed forward against a fixed stop and the piece of waste is removed from the advancement path by an ejector immediately after the stamping operation,
In carrying out the new process, in the case of stamping machines which, moreover, are of a known type, provision is made for an ejector or expeller which acts transversely with respect to the direction of advance of the material. to work and which, depending on the stamping tool,
expels the piece of waste from the advancement track at the end of the stamping operation.
The new working method is illustrated below, by way of example, by the installation shown in the drawing.
Fig. 1 is a front view of the ejection device, FIG. 2 is a plan view thereof and FIG. 3 is a / layout (division) of the workpiece.
It is accepted in the example that wedge-shaped pieces K will be stamped or cut from a flat iron bar F, the punch or punch having a shape corresponding to the wedge-shaped pieces. As the lateral flanks of these wedge-shaped pieces converge at the same angle, there is formed at the front end of the workpiece F, after each pass, an oblique edge, or chamfer which is directed in the opposite direction of the weapon. or cutting edge of the tool. For wedge stamping, the workpiece must be pushed at least @
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
far enough so that the tool edge grips the full section of the workpiece.
There is therefore produced at the front end of the workpiece a piece or piece of waste provided that after each operation or stamping pass the advancement of the workpiece is measured, so that the length side of the piece of waste conforms to that of the part to be stamped, the piece of waste closes the counterpart of the wedge-shaped part to be stamped and can be used in the same way as this one. In this way, the workpiece can be used without any waste.
In each case, and this both if the piece of waste is to be made as small as possible and if it is to receive the same size as the wedge-shaped piece, we have to solve the problem of completely eliminating the piece of waste separated from the workpiece, so that the workpiece can be pushed forward for the next pass.
The drawings reproduce a cutting machine or stamper known per se, in which the workpiece F is advanced at intervals below the stamping tool or punch., 3 between a support 1 and a cover plate 2. The members 1, 2 are provided with suitable recesses for the passage of the stamping tool 3, so that the profiled part is ejected downwards out of the path of advance of the workpiece. The advancement of the workpiece is adjustable by an adjustable stop 5 itself by an adjusting screw 4, the adjustment being carried out in such a way that each time a piece of waste A of the size of a stamped piece K.
In front of the stop 5, an ejector 6 is provided which can be brought into the path for advancing the workpiece and mounted in a guide trestle 8 so that it is movable. An angled lever is journaled to the guide bridge 8
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
9 movable around an ankle 10 and an arm 11 of which moves in a slot 12 of the guide part 13 of the ejector.
A roller 14 placed in the guide slot ensures, by this pivoting arm 11, an easy driving movement of the ejector 6. A coil spring 16 which is placed on the end part 15 of the ejector 6 and is located between a stop 17 and a collar 18 of the ejector 6, constantly tends to keep the latter in the path of advance of the workpiece F.
The pestle 19 of the stamper carries by a cantilever arm 20 a control arm 21 which is conjugated with the arm 22 of the bent lever 9. The control arm 21 is engaged, by a nose 23, below it. a groove 24 of the arm 22, and the construction is executed in such a way that on the return of the stamping tool 3, therefore of the pestle 19, the nose 23 rotates the angled lever 9 in the direction of rotation of the needles d 'a watch, so that the ejector 6 is withdrawn from the feed path of the workpiece F by applying the spring 16.
During the downward movement of the pestle 19, the nose 23 releases the lever 9, so that the ejector, by partially relaxing the spring 16, is placed against the workpiece F pushed forward in the meantime, namely against the hoop of waste A forming during the next stamping pass.
As soon as this piece is detached from the workpiece F by the stamping operation, the spring 16 can relax further, because the nose 23 has, by the subsequent pass of the pestle 19, released the angled lever 9, and the The ejector 6, precipitated forward, therefore pushes the piece of waste A out of the feed path of the workpiece F, which can now again be pushed forward as far as the stop 5 during the return or retreat of the workpiece. pestle 19.
The device described can be modified in accordance with possible necessities, on the sole condition of ensuring that its configuration is such that it is able to eliminate from the path of advance of the workpiece, the mor - @

waste water formed after each stamping operation and which has been completely detached from the workpiece.
CLAIMS.
1. A process for the production of stamped parts from bar or strip material or similar preparatory profiles, in which a piece of waste is detached with each pass, characterized in that the workpiece is pushed forward. at intervals against a stop taking / account of the formation of the piece of waste and in that the piece of waste which forms is in each case expelled laterally.
