Abstract
Un método para suprimir una region de ADN en una planta. En algunas formas de realizacion, el método comprende la transformacion de una planta con una molécula de ácido nucleico, en donde la molécula de ácido nucleico codifica una o varias nucleasas de dedos de zinc (ZFN) operativamente ligadas a uno o varios promotores específicos de tejidos, por ejemplo, un promotor específico de polen. Los métodos incluyen la escision de genes nativos en una planta. Conforme a ello, en algunas formas de realizacion, ZFN se manipulan para que reconozcan secuencias que flanquean genes de plantas nativos. En otras formas de realizacion, las ZFN se expresan bajo el control de promotores específicos del estadio de desarrollo, es decir, por ejemplo, secuencias de ácidos nucleicos se eliminan específicamente en plantas durante estadios de desarrollo relativamente tardíos. Se incluyen las moléculas de ácido nucleico de utilidad para llevar a cabo los métodos revelados y las plantas producidas por los métodos.
