Definitions
- Ceramic material ceramic multilayer component and method for producing the component
- the invention relates to a ceramic material containing barium titanate.
- the invention further relates to a ceramic multilayer component with the ceramic material. Furthermore, the invention relates to a method for producing the component.
- Ceramic materials are known which are suitable for producing multilayer capacitors and which have a dielectric constant e of approximately 50 or more. These ceramic materials have the disadvantage that the production of multilayer capacitors with very small capacitance values is difficult due to the relatively large dielectric constant.
- the internal electrodes which are usually a mixture of silver and platinum, the mixing ratio Ag / Pd being 50/50.
- platinum is expensive to procure, which results in high costs.
- the aim of the present invention is therefore to provide a ceramic material which has a relatively low dielectric constant.
- the invention specifies a ceramic material which contains barium titanate (B i 4 ⁇ g) and additionally 0.1 to 0.5 percent by weight Mn2Ü 3 .
- Mn2Ü 3 gives the ceramic material based on barium titanate a low dielectric constant, which is between 35 and 38. This makes it easier to set small capacitance values in the manufacture of a multilayer capacitor without a very precise one
- the ceramic material additionally contains a proportion of d2Ü3 which does not exceed 0.2 percent by weight.
- Nd2Ü 3 has the advantage that the ceramic material according to the invention has the so-called "C0G characteristic".
- the invention also provides a ceramic multilayer component which has a layer stack of electrode layers and dielectric layers lying alternately one above the other and in which the dielectric layer ten contain the ceramic material according to the invention.
- a ceramic multilayer component can be a multilayer capacitor, for example, the dielectric layers forming the dielectric.
- the electrode layers correspond to the capacitor plates.
- a suitable arrangement of external electrodes, which are in contact with the electrode layers, enables the parallel connection of many individual capacitors.
- the ceramic material contains a proportion of 0.2 to 1.5 percent by weight of Ag2Ü.
- the diffusion of silver out of the electrode layers of the multilayer component according to the invention can be reduced. This enables the use of silver as the material for the electrode layers of a ceramic multilayer component according to the invention. Without the doping of the ceramic material according to the invention achieved by the addition of Ag 2 Ü, the silver present in the electrode layers would diffuse to a greater extent into the ceramic, which would lead to instability of the electrode layers.
- the reduced diffusion of electrode metal allows the production of capacitors in which, with a dielectric layer thickness between 5 and 60 ⁇ m, an electrode layer thickness of at most 1.5 ⁇ m is sufficient to keep a homogeneous, continuous electrode layer even after sintering.
- Electrode layers have the advantage that, in addition to a reduced consumption of metal material, which plays a role in particular when using noble metals such as silver or palladium, a reduced delamination due to a reduced difference in the shrinkage behavior of the electrode and dielectric layer is observed.
- an electrode layer of small thickness has the advantage of one higher utilization of the volume with the same capacitance of the capacitor.
- the ceramic material contains 1 to 10 percent by weight of Bi4Ti3 ⁇ ] _2.
- the bismuth titanate has the function of a sintering aid.
- the addition of a sintering aid to the ceramic material results in the advantage that the sintering temperature at which the ceramic material is to be sintered can be reduced to a temperature between 1000 and 1200 ° C., which in turn allows a high proportion of silver in the electrode layers.
- This relatively high proportion of silver in the electrode layer is made possible by doping the ceramic material with Ag2 ⁇ 3 and by lowering the sintering temperature using the sintering aid. Without a reduction in the sintering temperature, the proportion of palladium would have to be higher, since palladium melts at a higher temperature than silver. However, a higher proportion of palladium also causes higher costs for the production of a component.
- a method for producing the ceramic material can have the following steps, for example:
- the invention provides a method for manufacturing a multilayer ceramic component to, wherein a stack of superimposed ceramic green sheets B i4 ⁇ g with a proportion of 1 to 10 wt .-% Bi Ti3 ⁇ i2 un ⁇ electrode layers is sintered containing and wherein the sintering at a temperature of 1000 and 1150 ° C takes place.
- This method according to the invention is made possible by the addition of the sintering aid. It has the advantage that the sintering temperature can be kept so low that electrode layers can be used which, in addition to palladium, also contain a considerable proportion of silver. In particular, it is possible to use electrode layers which have an Ag / Pd ratio between 70/30 and 80/20.
- FIG. 1 shows an example of a ceramic multilayer component according to the invention in a schematic cross section.
- FIG. 2 shows the temperature behavior of the capacitance of a component according to the invention.
- FIG. 1 shows a capacitor as an SMD-compatible component with electrode layers 1 lying one above the other, which have an electrode metal and which are separated from one another by dielectric layers 2 made of ceramic material.
- Metallizations 3 are arranged on the end faces of the capacitor, each electrode layer 1 being electrically connected to exactly one of these metallizations 3.
- the metallization 3 can be, for example, a layer stack made of silver, Nikkei and tin, which is particularly easy to solder.
- the tin layer is the outermost layer that is electrodeposited on the nickel layer.
- the ceramic material according to the invention is particularly suitable for producing multilayer capacitors with geometric dimensions of 0.6 mm in length, 0.8 mm in width and 1.2 ⁇ 0.1 mm in height and with a capacitance of 0.1 5-100 pF.
- the dielectric layers are made of a ceramic material that contains barium titanate and 0.2 percent by weight Mn ⁇ 4.
- a multilayer capacitor with five internal electrodes and ceramic layers between them was produced from a ceramic composition according to the invention with a content of 0.2% by weight of Mn2Ü 3 and a content of 0.1% by weight of Nd2Ü 3 and various electrical characteristics measured.
- the following table shows the electrical characteristics such as capacitance C, loss angle tan ⁇ , the dielectric constant e and the relative change in capacitance in relation to the capacitance at 25 ° C (TKC), once at - 55 ° C and once at 125 ° C.
- the table shows that the ceramic material according to the invention has a dielectric constant of 38.6.
- FIG. 2 shows the relative change in the capacitance of the capacitor from the table as a function of the temperature.

Beschreibung
Aus der Druckschrift Mhaisalkar, S. G. ; Readey, D. W. ; Akbar, S. A. ; Microwave Dielectric Properties of Doped
. J. Am. Ceram.
noch nC>2 be- ziehungsweise BaCC>3 enthalten.
