m lu/WM M 5 0 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JOSEPH KEPPLER, OF NEW YORK, N. Y., ASSIGNOR TO BENJAMIN T. B. HYDE, OF NEIV YORK, N. Y., TRADING AS HYDE EXPLORING EXPEDITION.
DESIGN FOR A SUPPORT OR BRACKET FOR FURNITURE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 36,251, dated March 24, 1903.
Application filed February 24,1903. Serial No. ll4o923. Term of patent 7 years.
T at whont it may concern:
Be it known thatI, JOSEPH KEPPLER, a citizen of the United States, residing at the city of New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented and produced a new, original, and ornamental Design for Supports or Brackets for Furniture, of which the followingis a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming part hereof, and in which a support or bracket showing my design is illustrated in a perspective view.
As shown in the drawing, the leading or material feature of my design consists in the shape or configuration of the support or bracket, combined with the surface ornamentation thereof.
As illustrated, the bracket has an upper horizontal member ctand a vertical member 11, disposed at right angles thereto. The space between the sides of the angle thus formed is partially occupied by the curved member (1, which springs from and merges into the members ct and Z). As illustrated, the member d has the conventional outline or configuration of a porcupine according to Indian mythology.
The upper part d'of the member d represents the head of the porcupine, with quills d sticking upward therefrom. The head d and quills d are accentuated bysurface ornamentations on both the member dand member a. The body 01 of the porcupine is likewise ornamented on its surface and has projecting from its inner curved surface a series of curved pendants (1*, representing appendages of the porcupine. The body 01 and pendants d have symbolic ornaments on their surface to more clearly represent the mythological porcupine of the Indian races.
I-Iaving described my invention, what I 40 claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The ornamental design for a support or bracket for furniture, substantially as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my signature in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
JOS. KEPPLER.
Witnesses:
