SIDNEY O. BIGNEY, OF ATTLEBOROUGII, MASSACHUSETTS, ASSIGNOR TO THE BRISTOL MANUFACTURING COMPANY, OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR A HANDLE FOR SHAVlNG-BRUSHES.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 32,808, dated June 12, 1900.
Application filed May 1900. Serial No. 16,829, Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, SIDNEY 0. BIGNEY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Atticborough, in the county of Bristol and State of Massachusetts, haveinvented a new and original Design for the Handle of a Shaving-Brush or Similar Article, of which the following isa specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part thereof.
Figure 1 is a side view of a handle for a shaving-brush, the outline of the brush being indicated in broken lines. Fig. 2 is a sectional view of the handle on the line X X of Fig. 1, showing the lower part as seen below the line.
The leading feature of my design consists in the ornamental panel on the flattened sides of the stem of the handle.
In the drawings, A indicates the stem, B the base, and C the ferrule, of the handle. The general outline of the stem is circular in cross-section. The largest diameter is at a. At the lower end, which curves inward to meet the base B, which has the outline of a section of a sphere from the point a, the stem gradually curves longitudinally inward to the line X X, above which it curves outward to the upper end I), terminating in the slightlyconvex end. On the two opposite sides of the stem the panels 0 e extend from end to end of the stem. These panels are slightly concave, the concavity falling within the circular cross-section of the stem. At the ends the panels are inclosed with foliated scrolls. On one of the panels a is the raised representation of a female figure. The base is ornamented with raised foliated scrolls. The central foliations of the raised scrolls are on a line with the center of the panels 0 c on each side of the handle.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The design for the handle of a shavingbrush or similar article herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
