SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 31,347, dated August 8, 1899.
Application filed June 12,1899. Serial No. 720.296. Term of patent 3 years.
To all whom it 'n'tu/y concern.-
Be it known that we, EUSTACE CREES and CHARLES S. COURT, residents of Providence, State of Rhode Island, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Handles, of which the following is a specification.
Our invention is a design for handles for spoons, forks, manicure implements, toilet articles, or the like; and it relates particularly IO toadesign for the handle of such implements.
The invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which the figure shows a face view of a spoon, the bowl thereof being shown in dotted lines.
IS The design is made up of a combination of scrolls andshields disposed along the handle. Beginning at or near the point ofjunction between the main body of the spoon or other device and the handle thereof rightand left scrolls extend along the face of the handle and at opposite edges thereof to the points A A. The parts of these scrolls run toward the center of the handle, and at their upper ends the scrolls curve outwardly. Above these scrolls a second pair of scrolls are located, starting at the center of the handle and curving with their base-lines along the opposite edges. These scrolls terminate in leaf ornamentations, and there is leaf ornamentation A between them. These scrolls are surmounted by bell-sl1aped ornamentations B B, which present the appearance of a serrated cup, forming a base or holder for a cluster of scrolls C C, which are enlarged at their upperends and curve inwardly. Above this cluster of scrolls C C there is an arrangement of shields D D, the lower parts of said shields being separated from each other by scrolls E E. The upper parts of the shields are bounded by smaller scrolls G G, and suro mounting these are two large scrolls F F, curving toward the centerat their upper ends, the end of the handle being finished by two small scrolls projecting from the point of junction of the large scrolls F F.
We claim- The design for a handle for spoons or similar articles as shown and described.
In testimony whereof we affiX our signatures in presence of two witnesses.
