UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
HENRY A. WEIHMAN, OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA, ASSIGNOR TO SIMONS BRO. da OO., OF SAME PLACE.
. DESIGN FOR A HANDLE FOR SPOONS OR SIMILAR ARTICLES.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design N0. 33,122, dated August 28, 190.
Application iiled Tune 7, 1900. Serial No. 19,466. Term of patent 14 years.
To au whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, HENRY A. WEIHMAN, of the city and county of Philadelphia, State of Pennsylvania, have invented and produced 5 a new and original Design for Handles for Spoons or Similar Articles, of which the following is a specification.
My invention has reference to a new and original design for handles for spoons or simi- 1o lar articles, of which the following is aspeciication, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming a part thereof.
In the drawing is shown a plan view of a handle embodying my new design.
As shown, lthe leading features of my design consist of the following configurations, namely: The shank of the handle is formed of a long smooth central part A, bounded on each side by ribs DD, the ends of these ribs 2o at the inner end of the handle being curled inward, as at J, and the other ends being more Widely separated and turned inward with a double-scroll ornamentation E,.which bounds a wider smooth central surface B as z5 an upper extension of the part A. Immediately above the part B is a narrow neck portion c, which again widens into another enlarged surface or head portion C, slightly raised at the central part. The head portion C and neck c are bounded von each side by the scrolls F of ogee pattern, having the lower parts curled outward and connecting with the inward curves of the parts E and the up per parts curled inward toward the upper part of the surface C. The middle portions of the scrolls F have inwardly-projectin g portions f, breaking the inner line of the ogee curves. The extreme upper end of the handle is ornamented bya semicircular scroll G, inclosing a shell ornamentation H, which blends with the upper end of the smooth central head-surface C. The central surface A, B, c, and C are smooth, and the border is formed by the connecting scrollwork above specified.
Having described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The design for a handle for spoons or similar articles as herein shown and described.
In testimony of which invention I have hereunto set my hand.
HENRY A. WEIHMAN.
