DESIGN FOR A BICYCLE-SADDLE BASE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 29,947, dated January 3, 1899.
Application filed December 5, 1898- Serial No. 698,385- Term of patent 7 years.
To aZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, BENJAMIN F. WHEELER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Detroit, in the county of \Vayne, State of Michigan, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Base for a Bicycle-Saddle; and I do declare the following to bea full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being bad to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
This invention relates to a new and original design for a base for a bicycle-saddle.
Figure l is a perspective View of my original design. Fig. 2 is a plan view thereof. Fig. 3 is a cross-section on line 3 3 of Fig. 2. Fig. 4 is a side elevation.
The leading feature of my design consists in the base portion of the saddle, representing substantially a trilateral bipennated figure, the greater portion of the surface of which is fiat, the extending neck portion of which is curved slightly downward at a, and the rear portion of which is curved slightly upward at b. The rear of the figure is divided by an oblong oval opening, which extends forward and forms of the rear portion of said figure curved fiarin g members. The opposed sides of said figure are substantially flat.
A designates the base portion; 13, the flaring divided members; 0, the forwardly-extending neck; D, the oblong oval opening dividing said flaring members, and c the beveled edges of the neck, the whole presenting to the eye a harmonious and ornate figure, as shown in the drawings.
Having described my design, what I claim 1s The design for a bicycle-saddle base sub stantially as herein shown and described.
