Be it known thatl, ANTOINE LACROIX, 31"., of Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented and pro- 5 dneed a new. and original Design for the Exterior of at Country House, of Wlilt'll the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part thereof.

to Figure 1 represents a perspective view of a country house showing my design. Fig. 2 represents a horizontal section or planet the first story. Fig. 3 represents a horizontal section or plan of the second story.

A country house embodying my design is generally L-shaped in the horizontal section, and comprises a first and second story and 2 an attic story. The whole is surmounted by a. gable roof extending downwardly to about the top of the first story and having its ridge extending parallel with the front of the house.

The house, as shown, is provided with a z number of bays, porches, and dormer-windows, which I will describe more in detail.

The front of the first story is illustrated as being provided with a porch A. At one side of the porch A is a flight of steps ll. At one 0 side of the flight of steps is a polygonal bay (1. Beyond the polygonal bay 0 and extending round the corner of one end of the house is a porch I). Leading from the porch D is a flight of steps E.

The first story, at one end of the honse,has a polygonal bay F. Abovethe polygonal bay F and about the second story is a rectangulerly-shnped bay G, surmounted by an overhanging gable end 11, extending from the attic. Consoles (I extend between the over- 40 hanging gable end H and the bay G. The roof I of the house, above the polygonal bay shows a dormer-window J, surmounted by an overhanging gable end I), between which and the dormer J extend consoles 0. About 5 centrally upon the roof and above the stairway B is a similar dormer-Window K. To one side of the dormer-window K, and also upon the roof, is a recessed or inset window L. Extending outwardly and above this window is a gable-roofed portion L L. Extending between the gablercmled portion and pedestalsl upon the roof are pillars l.

The rear portion of the house is provided with an extension N, from which leads a flight 5 5 of steps n. The roof of the extension N eonstitutes a portion of the roof I.
