EUGENIE MEARis, or BALTIMORE, MARYLAND.
TABLE.
T alZZ whom 1f/may concern/.
Be it known that I, EUGENIE MEARIs, a citizen of the United States, residing at Baltimore, State of Maryland, have invented new and useful Improvements in Tables, of which the following is a specification.
My invention has relation to improvevments in tables to which is attached an ironing-board; and the invention consists in the construction and arrangement Aof parts, as. v will be hereinafter described, 'and particu-l `larly pointed outin the claim.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a'perspective view illustrating` a table con- -and end bars 2 and 3,*the frame being properly supported on legs 4. -The table-topis' constructedin two sections, a fixed section 5 and a movable section 6, `the .latter com rising slightly'less than half the width o the table-topand being hinged at 7 to the fixed section. The end bars 2 and 3 of thetableframe beyond theI fixed section' are cut out or recessed at 8 to provide for the reception of levident an ironing-board 9, hinged at one endto the end bar 3 of the frame immediately-adjacent the recess 8 therein. The ironing-board is of a -length to permit its free end to rest Within the recess 8 in the end bar 2, of the frame when said boardis in inoperative position, and the board is of a thickness and width to completely fill, said recesses, so that when the ironing-board is in inoperative position it is i adalpted to support the hinged section of the tab to throughout its len th, as will be om Fig. 3 of the rawings. VThe hinged. connection between the ironin board and the end bar 3 of the frame is suc that when said board is turned into operative positionthe rear or hingedend thereof rests within said recess 8 in said end bar', so that the hinged section 6 of the top when in closed position willbear upon the hinged end of the ironing-board, and thereby assist in su orting the board in an obvious'manner. e side bar-.1 of the frame underlying the fixed section of the top is centrally and lon tudinally recessed or cut out at lto slidab y receive a mixing-board 11. The rear or in'- 4Specification of Letters Patent.

ner' end ofy the board is provided with a cleat 12` to.v limit the foiward movement O fthe board, and, if preferred, said board may be guided by strips 13, secured tothe under side of the. fixed section, as shown in dotted lines in Fig. 2. 'A brace or support 14 is hinged to the recessed side bar 1 centrally beneath the mixing-board and is ada ted to be turned out at right angles to said si( e bar when the board is in operative position, providing -a support longitudinally and'centrallyof the board. Near one end the recess-of the side bar 1 is formed with a circular opening 15, communieating with a box or casing Asecured to the side and'end bar of the frame, said side'and end bar for-ming two ofthe side walls of the casing. This construction provides a receptacle in which a rolling-pin 17 or other utensil may be kept. l
It will be notedthat when the ironingg board is iin-inoperative position it forms an effective support lengthwise the movable or hinged -section of the table-top, and that when said board has been turned to operative position the hinged leaf of the table-top'aids in securing the lironing-board. The mixingboard is concealed beneath the fixed section of the table-top when in inoperative position and may be readily moved to operative position for use .when desired.
Having'A thus described the invention, what is claimed as new is- In an ironing-table, al suitably-supported frame containing opposite top bars each hav- 'ving a recess of equal depth cut out of the top edge-thereof, one of said recesses being cut through the entire ,thickness of the top bar,
an ironing-board of a thickness equal to the .depth of the recesses and a width not greater than said last-named recess, hinged at the lower edge of one of its ends to the top bar at free end being adapted to engage and be supported in the recess in the opposite top bar, and a to piece movably mounted onthe 'theinner edge of said last-named recessfits Ipo frame an adapted to engage the top edges of. i
the top bars and the surface of the ironingboard or to be removed therefrom for the purpose set forth. f.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.l
