Description

NITED STATES Patented July 28, 1903'.
ALFRED RAPER, OF BATTLECREEK, MICHIGAN.
M ETAL FASTEN ER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 734,951, dated July 28, 1903.
Serial No. 117.486. (No model.)
To aZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ALFRED RAPER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Battlecreek, in the county of Calhoun and State of Michigan, have invented a new and useful Metal Fastener, of which the following is a specification.
This invention is an improved metal fastener or clasp particularly adapted for use in connection with suspenders, horse-blankets, and similar articles, the object being to provide a cheap and simple fastener which can be quickly and easily fastened or unfastened, as desired; and the invention consists in the details of construction hereinafter fully de scribed, and pointed out in the claim.
In the drawings forming part of this specification, Figure 1 is a perspective view showing a fastener constructed in accordance with my invention, the members being connected. Fig. 2 is an edge view. Fig. 3 is a perspective view showing the members separated.
In carrying out my invention I employ two members A and B, each formed from a single piece of wire and each constructed with an essentially rectangular-shaped frame A and B, respectively, to which the ends of the band or belt are connected, as most clearly shown in Fig. 1. The member A comprises an elongated eye or loop A which is connected tothe frame A by the parallel contiguous members A. The member B has a rearwardly-extending hooked portion B which is connected to the frame B by the parallel portions B said portions diverging at B adjacent to the frame B, and these diverging portions provide an enlarged opening B into which the elongated eye or loop A can be inserted when it is desired to fasten the members together, and the parallel .portions A being close together, can pass between the portions B and also through the hook B as most clearly shown in Figs. 1 and 2.
It is obvious that a fastening device constructed as herein shown and described can be quickly and easily fastened or unfastened and can be employed for a number of diiferent purposes. Y
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
A fastener formed in two parts, one of said parts comprising a substantially rectangular frame, a hook member bent toward the frame and connected thereto by two members parallel to each other adjacent the hook member and divergent adjacent to the frame, and the other part comprising a rectangular frame and an elongated eye connected to the lastmentioned frame by parallel members in contact with each other and adapted to be passed between the parallel members of the first-described part.
