To all whom t may concern:

Be it known that I, PETER DOWD, a citizen of the United States residing vat Globe, in the county of Gila, State of Arizona, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Mosquito-Masks; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to new and useful improvements in protecting devices used for preventing` attacks of flies and mosquitoes while the person is asleep, or when walking or sitting in a place infested with such insects.

One object of the present invention is to provide a novel and improved device which is in the form of a mask, ,adapted to be worn over the head and face of the person to prevent attacks of mosquitoes, flies, or other pests.

Another object of the present invention is to provide a novel and improved device of this character which is simple in construction, easy to operate, and which can be folded into a flat and compact condition when not in use.

Other objects and advantages will be apparent from the following description when taken in connection with the accompanying drawing.

Referring particularly to the accompanying drawing, 10 represents a wire ring in four equally spaced points of which there are formed the lkinks which result in the radially extending portions 11. A pair of arched wire members 12 and 13 are provided at their terminals with eyes 14 which are movably engaged with the radial portions 11, whereby said members are capable of being swung down so as to lie in superimposed relation on the ring 10, when the device is folded and not in use. In the upper intermediate portion of the member 12 there is formed a downwardly extending kink 15 into which the corresponding but upwardly extending kink 16 is arranged to be snapped, when the device is in set up or operative position. A piece of line meshed mosquito netting, either of cotton, silk, metal or other suitable material, is secured at its marginal edge around the ring 10, while the dome portion is unattached with respect to the arched members, whereby said members may be easily swung into and out of folded position, without interference Vof the netting.

Secured to and depending from the edge Y of the ring is a fabric skirt or curtain, shownl at 17, which is adapted to rest on the pillow and the person of the sleeper, to prevent the insects from getting under the ring 10 and attacking the neck and face vof the sleeper.

There is thus provided a novel and simple, as well as cheap device, whereby the sleeper is effectively protected from the attacks of mosquitoes, flies, or other insects.

Referring particularly to Fig. 5 there is shown a modification of the device wherein 18 represents an adjustable band which is arranged to be engaged around the head of the wearer. Extending radially outward from the band are short wires` 19 to the outer ends of which there is secured a second band 20. Secured to this band and extending upwardly over the wearers head is a wire or cloth screen fabric 21, while depending from the band 20 is a wire screen 22 which covers the lower portion ofthe head and face of the wearer. 'Io the lower edge of the screen 22 is attached a depending fabric 23 provided with a draw string 24 for securing the same around the neck of the wearer and to prevent the insects getting within the mask. v
