UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ANTON S. ALTMAN, 0F ANSELM, NORTH DAKOTA.
SPRING BED-BOTTOM.
Original application filed March 12, 1912, Serial No. 683,241. Divided and this application filed May 4,
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Oct. 1, 1912.
1912. Serial No. 695,276.
To all whom 'it may concern:
Be it known that I, AN ON S. ALTMAN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Anselm, in the county of Ransom and State of North Dakota, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Spring Bed- Bottoms, of which the following is a speci.
fication, reference being had to the accompanying drawings.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in spring bed bottoms and more particularly to improved adjustable spring bottoms for use in connection with an adjustable bed of that character shown and described in my prior application for patent filed March 12, 1912, Serial Number 683,241; and of which this application is a division.
Another object of the invention is to provide bed springs of the above character which will possess advantages in points of efficiency and durability, is inexpensive to manufacture and at the same time is simple in construction and operation.
With the above and other objects in view the invention consists in the novel features of construction and the combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully described, pointed out in the claims and shown in the accompanying drawings in which,
Figure 1 is a top plan view and Fig. 2 is a sectional view on the line 2-2 of Fig. 1.
, Referring more particularly to the drawings, 1 indicates the frame of my improved adjustable springs. The frame 1 comprises the longitudinal side bars 2 and 3 which are connected to the centrally arranged longitudinal bars a and 5 disposed upon opposite sides of the longitudinal center of the frame. Spring supporting bars 6 and 7 are alternately arranged upon opposite sides of the longitudinal center, the bars 6 having their ends connected to the side bars 2 and the central bar 5, and the bars 7 having their ends connected to the side bar 3 and the central bar 4. Mounted upon the bars 6 and 7 and arranged in spaced relation are the springs 8. Brace bars 9 are provided having one end secured to the side bars 2 and 3 and the other end secured to the inner ends of every other one of the spring bars.
From the above it will be readily seen that the frame can be readily adjusted to various sizes of beds and is particularly adapted for my improved bed shown and described in my prior application for patent filedMarch 12, 1912, Serial Number 683,241.
While I have shown and described the preferred form of my invention it will be obvious that various changes in the details of construction and in the proportions may be resorted to for successfully carrying my invention into practice without sacrificing any of the novel features or departing from the scope thereof.
What I claim is 1. In a device of the character described, the combination of longitudinal side pieces, spaced longitudinal bars arranged between said side pieces and disposed upon opposite sides of the longitudinal center, transverse bars arranged upon opposite sides of the center and having their ends secured to the side pieces and the spaced bars, and brace bars having one end connected to the side pieces and the other end connected to the spaced longitudinal bars.
2. The combination of a frame comprising longitudinal side pieces, spaced longitudinal bars arranged between said side pieces and disposed upon opposite sides of the longitudinal cent-er, transverse bars alternately arranged upon opposite sides of the center, the bars on one side of the center having their ends connected to one of the side pieces and the central bar arranged upon the opposite side of the center from said side piece, the bars on the other side of the center having their ends connected to the second side bar and the second central bar arranged on the opposite side of the center from the second side piece, and brace bars having one end connected to the side pieces and the other end connected to the spaced longitudinal bars.
In testimony whereof I hereunto affix my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
ANTON S. ALTMAN.
Witnesses:
FRANK E. SHAW, F. F. LINDEMANN.
