Abstract

1. Светоизлучающее устройство, содержащее: ! по меньшей мере один нелазерный светоизлучающий диод (10) бокового излучения, в котором большинство света, излучаемого по нормали к верхней поверхности полупроводникового кристалла светоизлучающего диода, перенаправляется от нормали; и ! световод (42), имеющий выходную поверхность, через которую свет излучается, ! при этом световод имеет по меньшей мере одно углубление в первой поверхности, противоположной выходной поверхности, в котором каждое углубление содержит светоизлучающий диод бокового излучения, при этом стенки углубления образуют часть первой поверхности, ! при этом световод имеет оптические элементы (44, 80), в котором оптические элементы содержат по меньшей мере один оптический элемент, сформированный над соответствующим светоизлучающим диодом бокового излучения, так что свет (51) внутри световода, падающий на оптический элемент, лежащий выше каждого светоизлучающего диода, перенаправляется к выходной поверхности световода для повышения выхода света световода над каждым светоизлучающим диодом, поэтому светоизлучающий диод бокового излучения не кажется темным пятном на выходной поверхности световода. ! 2. Устройство по п.1, в котором оптические элементы содержат угловой отражатель (44), сформированный на верхней стенке по меньшей мере одного углубления, при этом угловой отражатель (51) отражает свет (51) вверх к выходной поверхности световода, в целом над соответствующим светоизлучающим диодом бокового излучения, поэтому светоизлучающий диод бокового излучения не кажется темным пятном на выходной поверхности световода. ! 3. Claims (8)

1. Светоизлучающее устройство, содержащее:
по меньшей мере один нелазерный светоизлучающий диод (10) бокового излучения, в котором большинство света, излучаемого по нормали к верхней поверхности полупроводникового кристалла светоизлучающего диода, перенаправляется от нормали; и
световод (42), имеющий выходную поверхность, через которую свет излучается,
при этом световод имеет по меньшей мере одно углубление в первой поверхности, противоположной выходной поверхности, в котором каждое углубление содержит светоизлучающий диод бокового излучения, при этом стенки углубления образуют часть первой поверхности,
при этом световод имеет оптические элементы (44, 80), в котором оптические элементы содержат по меньшей мере один оптический элемент, сформированный над соответствующим светоизлучающим диодом бокового излучения, так что свет (51) внутри световода, падающий на оптический элемент, лежащий выше каждого светоизлучающего диода, перенаправляется к выходной поверхности световода для повышения выхода света световода над каждым светоизлучающим диодом, поэтому светоизлучающий диод бокового излучения не кажется темным пятном на выходной поверхности световода.
2. Устройство по п.1, в котором оптические элементы содержат угловой отражатель (44), сформированный на верхней стенке по меньшей мере одного углубления, при этом угловой отражатель (51) отражает свет (51) вверх к выходной поверхности световода, в целом над соответствующим светоизлучающим диодом бокового излучения, поэтому светоизлучающий диод бокового излучения не кажется темным пятном на выходной поверхности световода.
3. Устройство по п.1, в котором оптические элементы содержат по меньшей мере один оптический элемент (80), сформированный в выходной поверхности световода, в целом над соответствующим светоизлучающим диодом, так что свет, падающий на оптический элемент над каждым светоизлучающим диодом, перенаправляется с тем, чтобы излучаться через выходную поверхность, в целом над светоизлучающим диодом, поэтому светоизлучающий диод бокового излучения не кажется темным пятном на выходной поверхности световода.
4. Устройство по п.1, в котором оптические элементы содержат углубленные элементы.
5. Устройство по п.1, в котором оптические элементы содержат призмы, четырехскатные крыши, сферы, эллипсоиды, пирамиды, ямки, выступы или выемки, сформированные в или на поверхности световода.
6. Устройство по п.1, в котором оптические элементы получены формованием в поверхности световода.
7. Устройство по п.1, в котором световод содержит множество ячеек, при этом каждая ячейка содержит по меньшей мере один светоизлучающий диод, при этом каждая ячейка содержит стенки (67, 72) ячейки, окружающие по меньшей мере один светоизлучающий диод, при этом каждая ячейковая стенка является по меньшей мере частично отражающей.
8. Устройство по п.7, в котором стенки (72) ячейки наклонены так, чтобы перенаправлять свет к выходной поверхности световода.
