Description
Claims (11)
- 액정 표시 패널에 있어서,매트릭스 형으로 배치된 스위칭 소자들과, 그 상측면 전면에 형성된 배향막을 갖는 어레이 기판과,비표시 영역을 구성하는 차광막과, 색층과, 이들 층의 상측면 전면에 형성한 배향막을 갖고, 상기 차광막으로 덮인 영역을 제외한 영역을 표시 영역으로 하는 대향 기판과,상기 어레이 기판과 상기 대향 기판간의 셀 갭에 주입된 액정층과,상기 액정층내에 배합된 구형의 스페이서를 갖고,상기 표시 영역의 셀 갭은 상기 스페이서의 직경보다 크게 형성되고, 상기 차광막이 형성된 상기 비표시 영역의 셀 갭은 상기 스페이서의 직경보다 작게 형성됨으로써, 상기 비표시 영역에서는 상기 스페이서가 상기 셀 갭에 압축 고정되는 것에 의해, 화상 표시 시에 상기 표시 영역내의 액정이 특정 방향으로 배향되고, 또한 고각도에 걸쳐 선명한 화상 영역을 얻을 수 있는, 액정 표시 패널.
- 제 1 항에 있어서,상기 색층은 상기 셀갭이 상기 표시 영역과 상기 색층들간에 단차(step)를 형성하도록 상기 표시 영역보다 높게 형성되는, 액정 표시 패널.
- 제 2 항에 있어서, 상기 색층 영역은 스트라이프(stripes) 형상으로 형성되어 있는, 액정 표시 패널.
- 제 2 항에 있어서,상기 배향막의 편광 이방성이 미리 정해진 값 이내에 있도록 돌출된 상기 색층의 높이가 결정되어 있는, 액정 표시 패널.
- 제 1 항에 있어서,상기 스페이서들은 상기 표시 영역의 상기 셀갭에서 자유롭게 이동할 수 있는, 액정 표시 패널.
- 제 5 항에 있어서,상기 액정 표시 패널은 액정 분자들을 일정 방향으로 규제하는 규제력(배향 규제력)을 액정에 부여함으로써 액정 분자의 이상 배향을 제거하고 광누설을 제거할 수 있도록 구성되어 있는, 액정 표시 패널.
- 제 1 항에 있어서,상기 어레이 기판은 액티브 매트릭스형 표시 방식으로 동작되도록 박막 트랜지스터(TFT)가 스위칭 소자들로서 배치된 TFT 기판인, 액정 표시 패널.
- 제 7 항에 있어서,상기 TFT 들은 상기 어레이 기판에 형성된 층들의 최상면에 형성되며, 상기 TFT 들과 상기 대향 기판의 색층들의 오목한 영역간에 형성된 상기 셀 갭은 셀내의 상기 스페이서들의 직경들보다 작게 형성되어 있는, 액정 표시 패널.
- 제 1 항에 있어서,상기 액정 표시 패널은 대각으로 14.1 인치 이상의 대형 화면(wide image area)으로 확대될 수 있는, 액정 표시 패널.
- 제 9 항에 있어서,상기 액정 표시 패널은 횡전계로 구동(IPS)될 수 있는, 액정 표시 패널.
- 2개의 기판들간에 삽입된 액정들을 포함하는 액정 표시 패널의 제조 방법에 있어서,상기 2개의 기판들 중 하나는 매트릭스 형으로 배치된 스위칭 소자들과 최상 층상에 코팅되는 배향막을 갖는 어레이 기판이고, 다른 하나는 차광막에 의해 덮인 영역을 제외하고 색층들에 의해 코팅되는 표시 화소 영역을 갖는 컬러 필터로서의 대향 기판인, 상기 액정 표시 패널의 제조 방법으로서,상기 대향 기판상에서, 상기 표시 화소 영역의 셀갭은 셀에 삽입된 스페이서들보다 크게 형성되며, 상기 차광막을 포함하는 상기 색층 영역에서의 상기 셀갭은이 셀갭이 단차 형상으로 형성되도록 스페이서들보다 작게 형성되고, 보다 높은 표시 화소 영역과 보다 낮은 색층간의 높이들의 차이는 상기 배향막의 편광 이방성이 미리 정해진 값이 되도록 결정되는, 액정 표시 패널 제조 방법.
