Abstract
PURPOSE:To make an electron emission element stably manufacturable in terms of good reproducibility by installing an electron emission electrode, having a projection, in a position almost corresponding to a deflecting electrode via an insulating layer, and also installing a drawer electrode with an electron emission port approximated and opposed to the projection. CONSTITUTION:A deflecting electrode 9 is installed on an insulating substrate 6, and an electron emission electrode 7 with a projection 7a and a drawer electrode 8 with an electron emission port approximated and opposed to the projection 7a both are installed on the deflecting electrode via an insulating layer 6a. Both electrodes 7 and 8 are formed by a fine working technique using a focusing ion beam. Voltage V1 is impressed on the electrode 8 against the electrode 7 by a power source 10a voltage V2 on the electrode 9 by a power source 10b, respectively. Thus, an electron emission element, generating the deflected electron beam, is stably manufacturable in terms of good reproducibility.
