Air conditioning systems in automobiles are usually installed near the bottom of the instrument panel and are configured to blow cold air toward the upper bodies of front seat passengers, making it difficult for the cold air to reach rear seat passengers. I have a problem.

One way to solve the above problem is to use a console box as a duct, as disclosed in Japanese Utility Model Application Publication No. 56-158342, to divert a portion of the cold air blown out from the cooling system installed in the instrument panel. It is conceivable that the air be blown out through the inside of the console box and toward the rear from an air outlet at the rear of the console box.

However, the rear end of the console box is generally at a height close to the feet of the rear seat occupants, so if an outlet is provided there, the cold air will be blown toward the feet of the rear seat passengers, and the cool air will blow out to the upper body area. It is difficult for the air to reach the rear seats, and not only does the rear seat occupant not feel sufficiently cool, but the lower body becomes cold and hot air accumulates around the head, resulting in an undesirable cooling condition.

If the rear end of the console box protrudes upward and the air outlet is placed at a fairly high position, it is possible to blow cold air directly onto the upper body of the rear seat occupants, but in this way, air conditioning is not required during periods when air conditioning is not required. In this case, the upward protrusion of the rear end of the console box becomes a nuisance, which not only narrows the interior space of the vehicle but also impairs the beauty of the vehicle interior.

1 to 3 show an embodiment of the present invention, in which 1 is a compressor, 2 is a condenser, 3 is a receiver tank, 4 is an expansion valve, and 5 is a main evaporator. It is installed together with a heater core 6 in an air conditioning duct 8 provided in the front instrument panel, and the indoor air (or outside air) sucked in from the intake port 81 by the rotation of the blower fan 7 is heat-exchanged with the evaporator 5 or the heater core 6. The air is blown out from a main air outlet 82 provided at the front of the front seat, and the above configuration is the same as that of air conditioning systems generally installed in conventional automobiles.

A sub-evaporator 11 and a blower fan 12 are housed in a console box 9 located between the left and right front seats, and the refrigerant pipe branches to the main evaporator 5 from the middle and flows to the sub-evaporator 11 via an expansion valve 10. A refrigerant pipe is provided for circulating the refrigerant through the sub-evaporator 11 to the compressor 1, and when the blower fan 12 is turned on, the blower fan 12 rotates and the suction port provided on the front side of the console box 9 is turned on. 9
Room air is sucked in from 1, passes through a sub-evaporator, becomes cold air, and is blown out from an air outlet, which will be described later, provided at the rear of the console box 9 toward the upper body of the rear seat occupant.

As shown in FIGS. 2 and 3, on the rear surface of the console box 9, a cold air blowing duct 92 having an air outlet 92a at the upper rear part protrudes upward from the top surface of the console box 9. From the position shown in FIG. Although not shown in the figure, the blower fan 12 is turned on and off in conjunction with the vertical movement of the blower duct 92. It is configured like this.

The intake port 91 of the console box 9 is located near the bottom between the seat cushions of the left and right front seats,

In the above configuration, when the air outlet duct 92 is in the retracted state as shown in the third figure, when there is no passenger in the rear seat during cooling, or when the rear seat passenger does not particularly require cooling for the rear seat, etc. Since the blow-off duct 92 covers the rear surface of the sub-evaporator 11 and the blower fan 12 is turned off, cold air is only blown from the blow-off port 82 to the upper body of the front seat occupant.

In this state, the air outlet duct 92 is housed in the console box 9 as shown in the third figure, and there is no possibility that the air outlet duct 92 will narrow the interior space of the vehicle or become a hindrance to the occupants.

Then, the switch of the blower fan 12 is turned on, the blower fan 12 rotates, sucks indoor air from the suction port 91, cools it in the sub-evaporator 11, and blows out cold air from the blow-off port 92a of the blow-off duct 92 toward the rear seat occupants. .

In this case, the outlet 92a is at a relatively high position due to the upward pull of the outlet duct 92, so
The cold air blown from the air outlet 92a is blown onto the upper body of the rear seat occupant, thereby providing an effective cooling sensation.

During seasons when air conditioning is not required (spring, autumn, winter, etc.), the air outlet duct 92 is naturally in the retracted position, so it does not reduce the interior space of the vehicle or interfere with the passengers. There is no unnecessary upward protrusion, and the interior of the vehicle feels airy.

As described above, according to the present invention, a sub-cooler unit consisting of a sub-evaporator and a blower fan is installed in a console box placed between the left and right front seats, and the air inlet is connected to the air intake port provided at the front of the console box. Cool air is sucked in and cooled by a sub-evaporator, and is blown out toward the rear seat occupants through an air outlet provided at the upper rear surface of the cold air blowing duct, which is used in a position protruding upward from the rear of the console box. When the air conditioner is not in use, the cold air duct can be stored in the rear of the console box, and the subcooler unit's blower fan switch can be turned on in the used position of the cold air duct and in the storage position. By having a structure that is linked to the vertical movement of the cold air blowing duct so that it turns off when
It is possible to accurately and effectively cool the rear seat passengers, and when the air conditioner is not in use, the cold air blowing duct does not protrude upward, so it does not get in the way of the passengers, and the interior of the vehicle has a clean view. Furthermore, when rear seat passengers need air conditioning, they can simply pull up the cold air blowing duct to the operating position and the subcooler unit's fan will rotate, blowing out cold air, and when they want to stop cooling, they can The purpose can be achieved simply by pushing down the cold air blowing duct, and it is extremely easy to handle, and can bring about great practical effects.
