Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a copper base alloy for a bearing with excellent strength, non- seizing property and abrasion resistance by compounding Cu, Sn, Ni, Si and Pb in a specified ratio.
CONSTITUTION: An alloy is prepared by; on the weight basis, Sn 2.0W15.0%, Ni 0.8W10.0% and Si 0.2W2.-% are included and the balance is Cu; or Sn 2.0W 15.0%, Ni 0.8W10.0%, Si 0.2W2.0%, Pb 2.5% or less are included and the balance Cu. Further, one or two or more kinds (in a case of two or more kinds, a total amount is 10.0% or less) selected from Mn 6.0% or less, Zn 6.0% or less, Al 6.0% or less, Sb2.0% or less may be added to the above described composition. The alloy obtained thereby has high strength in a cast condition and the hardness as well as the strength thereof is moreover increased by heat treatment. Moreover, bearing property, especially, nonseizing property and abrasion resistance is enhanced.
