Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide the copper alloy with enhanced abrasion resistance under a severe sliding condition by a method wherein Ni and Fe are especially added in brass components compositely in a specific amount and, further, Sn is added in a specific amount.
CONSTITUTION: The copper alloy consists of, in a wt% basis, 54W66% Cu, 1.0W 5.0% Al, 1.0W5.0% Mn, 0.2W1.5% Si, 0.5W4% Ni, 0.1W2.0% Fe, 0.2W2.0% Sn and the remainder of Zn. Said alloy is one wherein the micro-pulverization of an Mn-Si intermetallic compound is attained by especially adding Ni and Fe compositely in a specified amount and rigidity and toughness of said alloy are increased by further adding Sn as well as the fitting property with a sliding surface is made well to attain to enhance the abrasion resistance.
