Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide an Al bronze alloy having a low coefft. of friction and wear resistance as an oilless sliding material for high load as well as low load and consisting of a prescribed percentage each of Al, Fe, Ni, Mn, Ti, graphite and Pb and/ or bi, and the balance Cu.
CONSTITUTION: This wear resistant Al bronze alloy consists of, by wt., 6.0W 12.0% Al, 1.0W6.0% Fe, 0.1W6.0% Ni, 0.1W15.0% Mn, 0.1W2.0% Ti, 0.1W10.0% graphite, 0.1W20.0% Pb and/or Bi, and the balance Cu. By further adding 0.1W2.0% Sn to the alloy, stress corrosion cracking reducing the strength and elongation remarkably due to dealuminizing can be prevented. This alloy has a low coefft. of friction and a low sliding temp., so it does not wear and damage the opposite material. Thus, this alloy has superior characteristics.
