EXAMPLE: 1α,25-Dihydroxy-24-oxovitamin D3.
USE: An agent having similar pharmacological activity to vitamin D3 analogue compounds. An intermediate for the preparation of 1α,24,25-trihydroxyvitamin D3.
PROCESS: The compound of formula I is prepared by (1) irradiating a 1α,25,-dihydroxy-24-oxocholesta-5,7-diene compound with UV rays of 200W360nm wavelength, (2) isomerizing the produced 1α,25-dihydroxy-24-oxoprevitamin D3 compound with thermal energy, and if necessary, (3) eliminating the protecting group of the hydroxyl group.
