Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:A compound of formula I (R is H or OH-protecting group).
USE: Drug for accelerating absorption through the bones or absorption of calcium through the intestinal canals of mammals.
PROCESS: The compound I is prepared by (1) irradiating 24, 24-difluoro-25-hydroxycholesta-5, 7-diene or its OH-protected derivative II with UV-radiation (wave length: 200W360nm, pref. 260W310nm) in an inert organic solvent such as hexane, at -20W+120°C, pref. -10W+50°C, (2) isomerizing the resulting compound III at 20W120°C, pref. 40W100°C, and if necessary, (3) eliminating the OH-protecting group.
