Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of cracks during the continuous rolling pass, by previously rolling the continuously cast hot slab with a specified strain rate and a specified rolling reduction in the direction of the breadth, before feeding the slab to the hot rolling pass. CONSTITUTION:The cast slab of a specified breadth size at the surface and interior condition free from cracks is fed from the continuous casting pass to the hot rolling pass. That is, the molten steel is continuously cast and the hot cast slab is obtained; this hot cast slab is subjected to the hot edging pass with the 3/sec or less strain rate and the 50mm./pass/one side or larger rolling reduction; after that, the slab is fed to the hot rolling pass. Hereby, the continuously casting pass becomes possible to be connected and matched with the hot rolling pass at a high energy efficiency and the high productivity.
