Abstract
PURPOSE:To provide a mold material which is imparted with high strength, high heat conductivity and heat resistance by adding various elements such as Ni, Be and Nb at specific ratios to Cu which is an essential component. CONSTITUTION:A novel copper alloy obtained by adding 0.2-2.0% Ni, 0.05- 0.5% Be, and 0.01-1.0% Nb by weight to Cu. Be is added to lower the solubility of Be, Be is added to enhance strength by deposition aging and Nb is added to enhance crystal grain fining and high temp. strength. As a result, this copper alloy also possesses tenacious toughness while it is highly strong, and is also imparted with high strength, high heat conductivity and heat resistance. Hence, if this is adapted to molds, it causes less thermal strains and thermal deformations, and provides the superior durable performance that makes the inside wall of the molds difficult to cause abrasion, surface roughness and the like.
