Abstract

PURPOSE: To let filling of molten metal through runner be smoothly accomplished by providing a shut valve just before the cavity and letting the same respond to the pressing start of a plunger piston.
CONSTITUTION: Molten metal M poured into a sleeve 7 is admitted into a runner 5 through communicating part 6 and its influx into a cavity 4 prevented by a shut valve 10 on the upper stream of the cavity 4. As a plunger piston 8 descends in the sleeve 7 and arrives at molten metal head M1 while expelling the air between the same and molten metal head M1, a cylinder 11 is driven to move the shut valve 10 downward to open the runner 5. Then, the molten metal M begins to flow in the cavity 4 direction by gravity action and is pressure filled into the cavity 4 by further receiving the pressing of the plunger piston 8 immediately. This method supresses the occurrence of air inclusion, misrun, etc. and enables the sound casting to be obtained.
