Abstract
PURPOSE: To simultaneously enhance the productivity and quality of sintered ore by adjusting the water content of finely powdered and hydrophobic iron ore for sintered ore to improve the pseudo pelletizability of the starting material hard to sinter and thus raising the effects of mixing and pelletizing the material in a mixer.
CONSTITUTION: Finely powdered and hydrophobic ore 1 hard to sinter is charged into kneader 7 together with binder 6 such as bentonite and kneaded by rotation, mixing, compression and other method while adjusting the water content to 3W8% with water 8 to improve the pseudo pelletizability of ore 1. Ore 1 thus treated is then charged into mixer 9 together with usual fine ore 2, auxiliary starting material 3 such as limestone, fuel coke breeze 4, return ore 5, etc., and in mixer 9 water 10 is added to adjust the water content again, and they are converted into homogeneous starting material of pseudo pelletized state by rotating action. This material is charged into sintering furnace 11 and sintered while ensuring gas permeability during sintering and maintaining uniform sintering reaction. The resulting sintered ore is cooled with cooler 12, crushed with crusher 13, and screen-classified. The minus mesh is recycled as return ore 5, and the plus mesh is fed to a blast furnace as sintered ore product 14.
