Abstract

PURPOSE: To contrive the reduction of the rolling time, and the improvement of the product quality without relying on the operator's intuition, by empolying the CMP unit for automatically controlling the rolling force at a specified sequence depending on the specified information inputted to the CMP unit, at controlling the rolling force of the ring rolling mill.
CONSTITUTION: In the Wagner mill, the temperature and/or the dimension in the radial direction of the rolled material 1 are inputted to the CMP unit as control information; when this information coincides with the previously set standard value, the rolling work is executed following to the standard pattern of correlation between the outer diameter DA of the rolled material 1 and the radial rolling force FRA, being consituted of four steps to be decided according to the theroretical value and the actually resulted value. When the temperature is lower than the standard value, the rolling force is corrected so as not to permit any delay in the time necessary for making the outer diameter DA to be DA1 (when the temperature is higher than the standard value, the reverse corection is executed). After that, the second, the third, etc., sequential controls concerning the rolling reduction, the timing for changing the rolling force, etc., being stated in separate paragraph, are automatically executed; hereby, the reduction and uniformization of the rolling time, and the improvement and uniformization of the quality of the rolled product are effected.
