Description
そこで、本発明は、密封装置において、外部の水が外方部材と内方部材との間に浸入するのを防ぐ機能を高めることを目的とする。
前記シール部材は、前記外方部材の外周面の一部に取り付けられる筒状のシール固定部と、シールリップを有するシール本体部と、を有し、
前記スリンガは、前記内方部材の外周面の一部に取り付けられるスリンガ固定部と、当該スリンガ固定部の軸方向一方側の端部から径方向外側へ向けて延び前記シールリップが接触する第一径方向部と、当該第一径方向部の径方向外側の端部から軸方向他方側へ向けて延びる第一軸方向部と、当該第一軸方向部の軸方向他方側の端部から径方向外側へ向けて延びる第二径方向部と、当該第二径方向部の径方向外側の端部から軸方向他方側へ向けて延び前記シール固定部に第一隙間を介して径方向に対向する第二軸方向部と、を有し、
前記シール部材は、更に、前記シール固定部よりも外径が大きく前記第二軸方向部の軸方向他方側の端部に第二隙間を介して軸方向に対向する大径部を有し、
前記大径部の外周面と、前記第二軸方向部の外周面とは、軸方向に沿って直線状に延在する一連の外部流路の流路面に含まれ、
前記第一隙間と前記第二隙間とは繋がっていて当該第一隙間と当該第二隙間とを含むラビリンス隙間を備える。
この構成により、大径部の外周面と、第二軸方向部の外周面とが、軸方向に沿って直線状に延在する一連の外部流路の流路面に含まれる構成が容易に得られる。なお、同等とは完全に一致する場合の他に、製造誤差や組立て誤差等によって僅かに異なる場合も含まれる。
この構成により、第二隙間は、0.6ミリメートル以下の寸法で開口する。この開口の近傍の水は、表面張力の作用により前記ラビリンス隙間に浸入し難い。
前記転がり軸受装置によれば、外部の水が軸受内部空間に浸入するのを防ぐ機能が高まる。
図1は、転がり軸受装置の一例を示す断面図である。図1に示す転がり軸受装置10(以下、「軸受装置10」とも称する。)は、車両(自動車)の車体に設けられている懸架装置(「ナックル」ともいう。)に取り付けられ、車輪を回転可能に支持する。軸受装置10はハブユニットとも称される。軸受装置10が車体側(懸架装置)に取り付けられた状態で、図1の右側が、車輪側であり、車両アウタ側と称される。図1の左側が、車体中央側であり、車両インナ側と称される。
図2は、アウタ側の密封装置46及びその周囲を示す断面図である。図3は、アウタ側の密封装置46の断面図である。密封装置46は、環状のシール部材50と環状のスリンガ52とを備える。シール部材50は、外輪部材12に取り付けられている。スリンガ52は内軸部材14に取り付けられていて、内軸部材14と共に回転する。
図2に示すように、本開示の軸受装置10は、内軸部材14の一部と密封装置46の一部とによって構成される外側の樋構造78を備える。樋構造78は、径方向外側に向かって開口する周溝となって構成される。樋構造78の具体的な構成について説明する。
図4は、ラビリンス隙間70及びその周囲を示す断面図である。密封装置46には、シール部材50とスリンガ52との間の一部に、外部からの水の浸入を抑制するラビリンス隙間70が形成されている。前記のとおり、ラビリンス隙間70には、第一隙間71と、第二隙間72と、第三隙間73とが含まれている。
また、内側隙間73は、その流路方向の長さを確保するために、できるだけ長く設定されていて、内側隙間73の流路方向の長さL3は、2.5ミリメートル以上である。この構成により、外部の水の浸入を抑制する機能をより高めることができると共に、中央隙間71に形成された水膜が維持されやすい。
前記寸法H1が0.7ミリメートルを超えると、水の浸入を防ぐ機能が低くなる可能性がある。また、外側隙間72はその水(その流路抵抗)によって中央隙間71の水膜を保持する機能を有する。開口70aの寸法H1が0.7ミリメートルを超えると、外側隙間72における水の流路抵抗が期待できず、中央隙間71の水膜を保持する機能が得られ難い可能性がある。
以上のように、本開示の密封装置46は、シール部材50とスリンガ52とを備える。図3に示すように、シール部材50は、その外周側において、シール固定部54よりも外径が大きい大径部53を有する。大径部53は、スリンガ52が有する第二軸方向部68の軸方向他方側の端部68aに、外側隙間(第二隙間)72を介して軸方向に対向している。中央隙間(第一隙間)71と外側隙間(第二隙間)72とは繋がっていて、密封装置46は、中央隙間71と外側隙間72とを含むラビリンス隙間70を備える。そして、前記のとおり、大径部53の外周面53fと、第二軸方向部68の外周面68fとは、軸方向に沿って直線状に延在する一連の外部流路74の流路面74aに含まれる。
本開示の軸受装置10では、内軸部材14が外輪部材12に対して軸受中心軸Cを中心に回転する。本開示の密封装置46は、車輪用の転がり軸受装置(ハブユニット)10以外にも適用可能であり、密封装置46が適用される転がり軸受装置では、外方部材(外輪部材12)と内方部材(内軸部材14)とが軸受中心軸Cを中心に相対的に回転すればよい。つまり、図示しないが、転がり軸受装置の用途によっては、外方部材が内方部材に対して軸受中心軸を中心に回転してもよい。

Claims (3)
- 外方部材と、内方部材と、当該外方部材と当該内方部材との間に設けられた複数の転動体と、当該外方部材と当該内方部材との間であって前記転動体が設けられている軸受内部空間に異物が浸入するのを防ぐ密封装置と、を備える転がり軸受装置であって、
前記密封装置が、前記外方部材に取り付けられる環状のシール部材と、前記外方部材に対して相対的に回転する前記内方部材に取り付けられる環状のスリンガと、を備え、
前記シール部材は、前記外方部材の外周面の一部に取り付けられる筒状のシール固定部と、シールリップを有するシール本体部と、を有し、
前記スリンガは、前記内方部材の外周面の一部に取り付けられるスリンガ固定部と、当該スリンガ固定部の軸方向一方側の端部から径方向外側へ向けて延び前記シールリップが接触する第一径方向部と、当該第一径方向部の径方向外側の端部から軸方向他方側へ向けて延びる第一軸方向部と、当該第一軸方向部の軸方向他方側の端部から径方向外側へ向けて延びる第二径方向部と、当該第二径方向部の径方向外側の端部から軸方向他方側へ向けて延び前記シール固定部に第一隙間を介して径方向に対向する第二軸方向部と、を有し、
前記シール部材は、更に、前記シール固定部よりも外径が大きく前記第二軸方向部の軸方向他方側の端部に第二隙間を介して軸方向に対向する大径部を有し、
前記大径部の外周面と、前記第二軸方向部の外周面とは、軸方向に沿って直線状に延在する一連の外部流路の流路面に含まれ、
前記密封装置は、前記第一隙間と前記第二隙間とは繋がっていて当該第一隙間と当該第二隙間とを含むラビリンス隙間を備え、
前記内方部材は、前記スリンガ固定部が固定される前記内方部材の外周面の一部を有する軸本体部と、当該軸本体部の軸方向一方側から径方向外側に延びるフランジ部と、を有し、
前記フランジ部は、前記スリンガ固定部が固定される前記外周面の一部から径方向外側へ延びる環状の壁面と、当該壁面の径方向外側の端部から軸方向一方側へ延びる段付き面と、を有し、
前記スリンガが有する前記第一径方向部の少なくとも一部は、前記環状の壁面に接触する接触面を有し、
前記スリンガと前記内方部材とで構成され、径方向外側に向かって開口する周溝を有する樋構造を備え、
前記第一軸方向部は、前記段付き面との境界となる前記壁面の径方向外側の端部の軸方向他方側に位置し、
前記第一軸方向部の外周面は、前記樋構造の底面の一部となり、前記段付き面は、前記第一軸方向部と軸方向に並んで位置して、前記樋構造の底面の別の一部となる、
転がり軸受装置。 - 前記大径部の外周面と、前記第二軸方向部の外周面とは、直径が同等である、請求項1に記載の転がり軸受装置。
- 前記第二隙間は、0.6ミリメートル以下である、請求項1又は請求項2に記載の転がり軸受装置。
