Description
The present invention relates to a secondary battery electrolyte and a secondary battery using the secondary battery electrolyte.
A lithium secondary battery using metallic lithium (Li) or a lithium alloy as a negative electrode, or a lithium ion secondary battery in which a charge / discharge reaction proceeds by reversible movement of lithium ions between the positive electrode and the negative electrode, Since it can realize a higher energy density than a secondary battery, it has attracted attention as a power source for portable devices such as mobile phones and notebook personal computers.
Lithium has physical properties suitable as a negative electrode material for secondary batteries such as the lowest oxidation-reduction potential among metals and a large theoretical electric quantity. It is known that metallic lithium precipitates in a dendritic state, causing a decrease in battery capacity over time and a short circuit. In addition, even in a lithium ion secondary battery in which a material capable of reversibly occluding and releasing lithium ions is used as the active material of each of the positive electrode and the negative electrode, the characteristics are deteriorated due to irreversible reactions such as decomposition of the electrolyte solution. It is known to decrease.
For this reason, various improvements have been added to lithium secondary batteries and lithium ion secondary batteries in order to improve their stability and reliability and to extend their life. One of them is a method in which a specific additive is added to the electrolytic solution, and a film made of lithium fluoride or the like is formed on the surface of the negative electrode by a chemical reaction between the additive and the negative electrode to suppress the formation of dendrite. Are known. In addition, in a lithium ion secondary battery using a non-aqueous electrolyte, a specific additive is added to the electrolyte in order to suppress deterioration of cycle characteristics and battery characteristics that are considered to be caused by decomposition of the electrolyte. Is also known.
For example, Patent Document 1 discloses a lithium secondary battery (lithium ion) having improved cycle characteristics and battery characteristics by containing a predetermined amount of 1,3-propane sultone and / or 1,4-butane sultone in a non-aqueous electrolyte. Secondary battery). In this lithium secondary battery, the positive electrode is formed of a material containing a lithium composite oxide, and the negative electrode is formed of a material containing graphite. The above non-aqueous electrolyte contains a predetermined amount of 1,3-propane sultone and / or 1,4-butane sultone in a non-aqueous solvent mainly composed of a cyclic carbonate and a chain carbonate, and further this non-aqueous solvent. In which the electrolyte is dissolved. According to the description in Patent Document 1, 1,3-propane sultone and / or 1,4-butane sultone contained in the non-aqueous electrolyte contributes to the formation of a passive film on the graphite surface of the negative electrode, and the battery It is considered that the decomposition of the electrolyte solution is suppressed without impairing the normal reaction, and as a result, the cycle characteristics and the battery characteristics are improved.
Patent Document 2 discloses a lithium secondary battery (lithium ion secondary battery) in which cycle characteristics are improved by containing a predetermined amount of a specific aromatic compound in a nonaqueous electrolytic solution containing a nonaqueous solvent and a lithium salt. ) Is described. According to the description in Patent Document 2, in this lithium secondary battery, the above-mentioned aromatic compound reacts preferentially with active oxygen generated at the positive electrode to suppress decomposition of the non-aqueous solvent, thereby improving cycle characteristics. It seems to do.
However, today, when portable devices have become widespread, further improvements in performance are required for secondary batteries that are frequently used as power sources. In addition, since lithium secondary batteries and lithium ion secondary batteries have high energy density, they are also expected to be used as power supplies or auxiliary power supplies for larger devices and vehicles than portable devices. There is a need for further improvement.

Hereinafter, each form of the electrolyte solution for secondary batteries and the secondary battery of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the drawings as appropriate.
<Electrolyte for secondary battery>
As described above, the electrolytic solution for a secondary battery of the present invention comprises an aprotic solvent and the 1,3-oxathiane compound represented by the above formula (i) as essential components. Moreover, since it is electrolyte solution, electrolyte is also contained as an essential component. Hereinafter, these essential components will be described first, and then optional components will be described.
(a)非プロトン性溶媒;
(A) an aprotic solvent;
A lithium secondary battery or a lithium ion secondary battery has a higher battery voltage than other batteries, and thus an aqueous solvent cannot be used. Therefore, an aprotic solvent is used in the secondary battery electrolyte of the present invention. In addition, when the secondary battery electrolyte of the present invention is used as an electrolyte for a lithium ion secondary battery, it is necessary to dissolve the lithium salt to provide ionic conductivity. An aprotic solvent is used in the secondary battery electrolyte of the present invention.
The electrolytic solution preferably has a high dielectric constant and is chemically stable with respect to each of the positive electrode and the negative electrode of the secondary battery. In order to obtain an electrolytic solution having a high dielectric constant, it is preferable to use a mixture of a high dielectric constant solvent and a low viscosity solvent. From these viewpoints, the above aprotic solvent is also a high dielectric constant aprotic solvent having a relative dielectric constant of about 20 or more, or a viscosity of 1 cP (1 × 10 −2 g / 20 ° C. under 1 atm). It is preferable to contain one or more low-viscosity aprotic solvents of about cm · sec) or less, and one or two or more high-dielectric constant aprotic solvents and low-viscosity aprotic solvents, respectively. It is preferable to contain.
Specific examples of the high dielectric constant aprotic solvent include (1) cyclic carbonates such as propylene carbonate, ethylene carbonate, butylene carbonate, vinylene carbonate and derivatives thereof, and (2) cyclic carboxylic acid esters such as γ-butyrolactone. And derivatives thereof. In the case of using a derivative for each of the aprotic solvents (1) to (2), it is preferable to use a fluorine derivative from the viewpoint of oxidation resistance.
On the other hand, specific examples of the low-viscosity aprotic solvent include (I) linear carbonates such as dimethyl carbonate, diethyl carbonate, ethyl methyl carbonate, dipropyl carbonate and derivatives thereof, and (II) methyl formate, methyl acetate, propion. Aliphatic carboxylic acid esters and derivatives thereof such as ethyl acid and phosphoric acid triester, and (III) cyclic ethers and derivatives thereof such as tetrahydrofuran and 2-methyltetrahydrofuran, ethyl ether, 1,2-ethoxyethane, ethoxy Examples thereof include chain ethers such as methoxyethane and derivatives thereof. Further, dimethyl sulfoxide, dioxolane (1,3-dioxolane, etc.), formamide, dimethylformamide, acetamide, acetonitrile, propylnitrile, nitromethane, ethyl monoglyme, trimethoxymethane, which are generally known as solvents for the electrolytic solution, , 3-dimethyl-2-imidazolidinone, 3-methyl-2-oxazolidinone, anisole, and N-methylpyrrolidone can also be used.
The ratio of the high dielectric constant aprotic solvent and the low viscosity aprotic solvent to the total amount of the aprotic solvent depends on the type of the high dielectric constant aprotic solvent or the low viscosity aprotic solvent to be contained and the secondary battery. It can be appropriately selected according to the required performance. For example, when obtaining an electrolytic solution for a lithium ion secondary battery, it is preferable to appropriately select the ratio of the high dielectric constant aprotic solvent in the total amount of the aprotic solvent within a range of about 10 to 90% by volume. It is more preferable to select appropriately within the range of about 30 to 70% by volume.
(b)1,3−オキサチアン化合物;
(B) 1,3-oxathiane compound;
The 1,3-oxathiane compound represented by the above formula (i) (hereinafter simply referred to as “1,3-oxathiane compound”) is a characteristic component in the electrolyte solution for secondary batteries of the present invention, This contributes to improving the cycle characteristics of the secondary battery.
この1,3−オキサチアン化合物は、例えば、『Heterocycles』(Vol.60, No.6, pp.1477-1519, Anamaria Terec et al. (2003))や『Journal of the Chemical Society Chemical Communications 1997』(pp.814, Kaoru Fuji et al. (1997))等を参照して製造することができる。 This 1,3-oxathiane compound is, for example, “Heterocycles” (Vol. 60, No. 6, pp. 1477-1519, Anamaria Terec et al. (2003)) or “Journal of the Chemical Society Chemical Communications 1997” ( pp.814, Kaoru Fuji et al. (1997)) and the like. Specific examples of the 1,3-oxathiane compound include compounds 1 to 10 shown in Table 1 below, for example.
The proportion of the 1,3-oxathiane compound in the secondary battery electrolyte may be appropriately selected within a range of about 0.01 to 10% by mass, depending on the type and performance required of the secondary battery. preferable. If this proportion is less than 0.01% by mass, it will be difficult to improve the cycle characteristics of the secondary battery, and if it exceeds 10% by mass, it will be difficult to uniformly contain the aprotic solvent and the electrolyte solution The viscosity of the liquid increases and the liquid resistance tends to increase. The ratio is more preferably selected as appropriate in the range of about 0.1 to 5.0% by mass.
(c)電解質;
(C) an electrolyte;
When using the electrolytic solution for a secondary battery of the present invention for a lithium secondary battery, for example, a lithium salt can be used as the electrolyte. From the viewpoint of obtaining a high energy density secondary battery, it is preferable to use one or more lithium salts. Moreover, when using the electrolyte solution for secondary batteries of this invention for a lithium ion secondary battery, 1 type, or 2 or more types of lithium salt is used as electrolyte.
また、LiN(CkF2k+1SO2)2 (式中のkは1又は2を表す。) Specific examples of the lithium salt, LiPF 6, LiBF 4, LiAsF 6, LiSbF 6, LiClO 4, LiAlCl 4 , and the like. Further, LiN (C k F 2k + 1 SO 2 ) 2 (k in the formula represents 1 or 2) or LiN (C m F 2m + 1 SO 2 ) (C n F 2n + 1 SO 2 ) (m, n in the formula Each independently represents 1 or 2. A lithium imide salt such as 1) can also be used as the lithium salt. Among these lithium salts, LiPF 6 and LiBF 4 are preferable from the viewpoint of high lithium ion conductivity and excellent oxidation resistance.
The ratio of the electrolyte in the secondary battery electrolyte can be selected as appropriate according to the type and performance required of the secondary battery, but is appropriately selected within the range of about 0.6 to 1.5 mol / l. Preferably, it is more preferable to select appropriately within the range of about 0.8 to 1.2 mol / l.
The electrolyte solution for a secondary battery of the present invention containing the aprotic solvent, the 1,3-oxathiane compound, and the electrolyte described above as essential components is an electrolyte solution for a lithium secondary battery or an electrolyte for a lithium ion secondary battery. The liquid is suitable, and the cycle characteristics of the secondary battery can be improved as compared with the case where the 1,3-oxathiane compound is not contained. The reason is not clear, but it is considered that the 1,3-oxathiane compound forms a stable film on the surface of the negative electrode of the secondary battery and suppresses irreversible reactions such as reductive decomposition of the solvent.
The electrolyte solution for a secondary battery of the present invention that exhibits such a technical effect can be obtained, for example, by mixing an aprotic solvent, a 1,3-oxathiane compound, and an electrolyte. In the secondary battery electrolyte, a desired optional component can be appropriately contained as necessary. Hereinafter, the optional components will be briefly described.
(c)任意成分;
〔スルホン化合物〕;
(C) optional component;
[Sulfone compound];
By including one or more sulfone compounds different from the aforementioned 1,3-oxathiane compound as an optional component in the electrolytic solution, it becomes easy to further improve the cycle characteristics of the secondary battery. Specific examples of the sulfone compound include 1,3-propane sultone, 1,4-butane sultone, γ-sultone compound, sulfolane, methyl sulfolane, alkanesulfonic acid anhydride, cyclic disulfonic acid ester compound, sulfolene compound and the like.
When the sulfone compound is contained, the proportion of the total amount of the sulfone compound in the secondary battery electrolyte is about 0.01 to 10% by mass, depending on the type and performance required of the secondary battery. It is preferable to select appropriately within the range. If this ratio is less than 0.01% by mass, the effect of adding the sulfone compound is difficult to obtain, and if it exceeds 10% by mass, the viscosity of the electrolyte increases and the liquid resistance tends to increase. The content of this sulfolane compound is the total amount with the 1,3-oxathiane compound described above, and is preferably in the range of about 0.01 to 10% by mass.

When metallic lithium or a lithium alloy is used as the negative electrode active material, the metallic lithium or lithium alloy is preferably amorphous in order to prevent deterioration due to the presence of crystal grain boundaries and crystal defects.

Among these lithium-containing composite oxides, those having a plateau at 4.5 V or more at the lithium metal counter electrode potential are preferable. The crystal structure of the lithium-containing composite oxide can be a spinel type, an olivine type, an inverse spinel type, or the like. These lithium-containing composite oxides can also be used as a positive electrode active material for lithium secondary batteries.

When an oxide is used as the negative electrode active material, the oxide is preferably amorphous in order to prevent deterioration due to the presence of crystal grain boundaries and crystal defects. Among the above oxides, silicon oxide is preferable in that it is stable and does not react with other compounds, and amorphous silicon oxide is particularly preferable.

The secondary battery can be formed into various shapes such as a cylindrical shape, a square shape, a coin shape, and a laminate shape, depending on the application.
<実施例1>
<Example 1>
(Preparation of secondary battery electrolyte)
First, an aprotic solvent prepared by mixing ethylene carbonate and diethyl carbonate at a volume ratio of 30/70 was prepared. Next, LiPF 6 as an electrolyte is dissolved in this aprotic solvent at a rate of 1 mol / l, and the content of the 1,3-oxathiane compound shown as compound 1 in Table 1 is 0.5% by mass. Thus, an electrolyte solution for a secondary battery was obtained.
(Production of secondary battery)
First, a mixture of LiMn 2 O 4 as a positive electrode active material and carbon as a conductivity-imparting agent is dispersed in a dispersion medium obtained by adding polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) as a binder to N-methylpyrrolidone. A slurry was obtained. At this time, the mass ratio of LiMn 2 O 4 , carbon, and PVDF was 91/5/4. Next, the slurry was applied onto a current collector made of aluminum foil, dried in vacuum for 12 hours, and then punched out into a circle having a diameter of 12 mm, followed by pressure molding to obtain a positive electrode. Separately, metallic lithium having a thickness of 1.4 mm and a diameter of 18 mm was prepared and used as a negative electrode.
Next, a separator made of a porous polyethylene sheet was placed on the positive electrode active material, and the negative electrode was laminated on the positive electrode active material so as to face the positive electrode, thereby obtaining a laminate. After that, the above laminate is accommodated in a battery casing having a predetermined shape, and 30 μg of the electrolyte prepared for the secondary battery previously impregnated in this laminate is sealed, and the battery casing is sealed. A coin-type lithium secondary battery was obtained.

About each coin type lithium secondary battery produced in Example 1, Example 2, and Comparative Example 1,
The results are shown in Table 2. Table 2 shows the composition of the aprotic solvent in the electrolyte solution for the secondary battery used in each coin-type lithium secondary battery, the type of the 1,3-oxathian compound contained, and each coin-type lithium secondary battery. The type of the negative electrode active material in the battery is also shown.
As is clear from the comparison of the capacity retention rates shown in Table 2, each coin-type lithium secondary of Example 1 and Example 2 using an electrolyte for a secondary battery containing a 1,3-oxathiane compound was used. The battery has extremely good cycle characteristics as compared with the coin-type lithium secondary battery of Comparative Example 1 that uses an electrolyte for a secondary battery that does not contain a 1,3-oxathiane compound. This is presumably due to the fact that irreversible reactions such as reductive decomposition of the solvent on the negative electrode side were suppressed by the 1,3-oxathiane compound contained in the secondary battery electrolyte.

An electrolyte solution for a secondary battery was prepared under the same conditions as in Example 8 except that the 1,3-oxathiane compound was not used. A coin-type lithium ion secondary battery was produced under the same conditions as in Example 8 except that this secondary battery electrolyte was used.
<Charge / discharge cycle test 3>
About each coin-type lithium ion secondary battery produced in Example 8, Example 9, and Comparative Example 3, 300 cycles of charge / discharge tests were performed under the same conditions as the charge / discharge cycle test 2 described above, and charge / discharge cycles were performed. The capacity retention rate after 300 cycles was determined in the same manner as in Test 2.
The results are shown in Table 4. In Table 4, the composition of the aprotic solvent in the electrolyte solution for secondary batteries used in each coin-type lithium ion secondary battery, the kind of contained 1,3-oxathiane compound, and contained as an optional component The type of sulfone compound and the type of negative electrode active material in each coin-type lithium ion secondary battery are also shown.
As is clear from the comparison between the capacity retention ratio in Example 8 shown in Table 4 and the capacity retention ratio in Comparative Example 3, an electrolyte for a secondary battery containing a 1,3-oxathiane compound is used. Thus, even in a lithium ion secondary battery using a carbon material (amorphous carbon) as a negative electrode active material, the cycle characteristics can be improved.
Further, as is apparent from the comparison between the capacity retention ratio in Example 8 and the capacity retention ratio in Example 9 shown in Table 4, the sulfone compound (1,3-3- By adding propane sultone), it is possible to obtain a secondary battery with better cycle characteristics.
