該ナンバープレートは好ましくは、背面照明を提供するのに使用できる様々な光源に取り外し可能なように実装することができる。「取り外し可能なように実装」とは、ナンバープレートが光源上に実装でき、そこから取り外すことができ、好ましくは光源へ再度実装できることを意味する。一般に、ナンバープレートを光源に実装することは単純で簡単であり、車のユーザー又は所有者によって実行できる。例えば、該ナンバープレートは、従来のナンバープレートの実装方法と同じ方法で、ねじを使って光源へ実装できる。或いは、該ナンバープレートは光源上に提供された手段で光源へ固定してもよく、又はナンバープレートはフレームを用いて光源へ実装してもよい。
シーティングの再帰反射、R’の係数は、ドイツ工業規格(Deutsche Industrie Norm)/DIN67520のパート1に従い、光電セル及び角度計を使って測定された。観測角(α)は0.33度だった。2つの入口角(β)の値が求められ、それぞれ5度と30度であった。
シーティングの光透過の特性は、ドイツ工業規格(Deutsche Industrie Norm(DIN))5063のパート3の5.6項、「拡散照明下の透過性測定τdif」に従い測定された。
ガラスの微小球の層を含むシートが、US2,407,680(パルムキスト(Palmquist))及びUS2,407,680の図1に示される一般に述べられている方法によって作成された。まず、50μmの厚さを有する透明なポリマー層が高分子フィルム支持体上へ配置された。2.26の屈折率及び平均直径71μmを有するガラスの微小球層がそれから追加され、そのため微小球は部分的に透明なポリマーの第一層へ埋め込まれた。約22μmの厚さを有する透明なポリマーの第二の層がそれから、埋め込まれた微小球上へ配置され、スペーサ層を形成した。
蒸着重合プロセス中にマスクを使用しなかったことを除く上記実施例によって、ナンバープレートが作成された。結果として作成された再帰反射シートは、連続的なアルミニウムの蒸着重合層を有した。
Claims (16)
- 再帰反射面(16)及び反対側の後面(17)を有する半透明の再帰反射材料であって、該再帰反射材料は、透明領域及び不透明領域の規則的又は不規則な二次元のパターンを有し、前記再帰反射材料は、透明な微小球(20)の層及び透明な微小球の前記層の後ろに機能的に置かれた反射層を含み、前記反射層は、隣接する金属の金属領域(11)及び実質的に金属を有さないオープン領域(12)の規則的又は不規則な二次元のパターンを含み、前記反射層のオープン領域(12)は、前記再帰反射材料の透明領域に対応し、前記反射層の金属領域(11)は、前記再帰反射材料の不透明領域に対応し、前記透明な微小球(20)が前記透明及び不透明領域内に存在し、並びに前記透明領域が、前記再帰反射面(16)上の前記再帰反射材料の表面全体の少なくとも5%を構成する半透明の再帰反射材料。
- 透明な領域が前記再帰反射面上の再帰反射材料の表面全体の15〜70%である、請求項1に記載の半透明の再帰反射材料。
- オープン領域及び/又は金属の領域の少なくとも一部が類似の大きさと形を有する、請求項1または2に記載の半透明の再帰反射材料。
- 透明な微小球がガラスの球体である、請求項1〜3のいずれか一項に記載の半透明の再帰反射材料。
- 透明な微小球の前記層及び前記反射層の間に位置する、又は前記再帰反射層の上に提供された誘電体反射鏡を更に含む、半透明の再帰反射材料。
- ナンバープレートのナンバーを定める表示(210)を表示するディスプレイ面及び反対側の背面を有するナンバープレートであって、前記ナンバープレートは、背面から光が当たるように適応され、請求項1〜5のいずれか一項に記載されているように、前記ナンバープレートは半透明の再帰反射材料(320)を含み、半透明の再帰反射材料(320)は前記ナンバープレートのディスプレイ面を再帰反射するような方法で配置される、ナンバープレート。
- 透明な高分子支持体を更に含む、請求項6に記載のナンバープレート。
- 前記半透明の再帰反射材料が透明な接着剤層を介して前記透明な高分子支持体へ接着され、並びに透明な高分子支持体がナンバープレートの背面にある、請求項7に記載のナンバープレート。
- 前記表示が***構造を含み、そして、不透明又はナンバープレートの背景領域と比較して減少した透明度を有する、請求項6〜8のいずれか一項に記載のナンバープレート。
- 前記表示が前記ナンバープレートのナンバーを表示する面の表面上に露出している、又は前記ナンバープレートのナンバーを表示する面上に埋められた、印刷された表示を含む、請求項6〜8のいずれか一項に記載のナンバープレート。
- 前記ナンバープレートをナンバープレートの背面から光源によって照らすことができるように前記光源上に配列された、請求項6〜8のいずれか一項に記載の、光源(101、102)及びナンバープレート(300)を含むナンバープレート組立体。
- 前記組立体が、前記ナンバープレートを取り付けることができる前面を有する光導体、その反対側の後面、及び1つ以上の側面を更に含み、前記光導体を照らすための1つ以上の光源が、少なくとも1つの前記側面の少なくとも一部に沿って配列される、請求項11に記載のナンバープレート組立体。
- 前記光源が1つ以上のLED装置を含む、請求項12に記載のナンバープレート組立体。
- 請求項11〜13のいずれか一項に記載のナンバープレート組立体を含む自動車またはトレーラー。
- 請求項6〜10のいずれか一項に記載のナンバープレートの製造方法であって、前記方法は、(i)請求項1〜5のいずれか一項に記載の半透明の再帰反射材料を提供すること、(ii)前記半透明の再帰反射材料を所要の寸法に切ること、及びナンバープレートのナンバーを規定する表示を加えること、を含む方法。
- 半透明の再帰反射材料を透明な高分子支持体へラミネート加工し、そのように得られたラミネートを前記表示へ加えるためのエンボス加工工程を更に含む、請求項15に記載の方法。
