Abstract
Description
チタンとその合金に関するアームストロング法を改良する際に、上述のスラリーを製造する方法は極めて迅速であり、スラリーからの生成物の分離が連続法のエンジニアリングに関して最も困難な状況であることを見出した。この説明(又は記載)は、四塩化チタンとナトリウムとの発熱を伴う還元反応を行って、チタン粒子、塩化ナトリウム粒子及び過剰のナトリウムを生ずることに関するが、このことは本発明を制限するものではなく、便宜的なものとして解すべきである。

Claims (25)
- 液体金属及び金属粒子及び塩の粒子の元の成分のスラリーから金属粒子を分離する方法であって、
少なくともいくらかの液体金属を除去することで金属及び塩の粒子を濃縮すること、
金属粒子を更に濃縮するために、元の塩成分又はその混合物の融点より高い温度で、液体金属又は元の塩成分の液体又はそれらの混合物を、濃縮された金属粒子及び塩粒子に通すこと、並びに
その後に、金属粒子を残りの元の成分又は塩成分の混合物から分離すること
を含んで成る方法。 - 少なくともいくらかの液体金属を除去した場合、ゲルが形成される請求項1に記載の方法。
- 元の塩成分又はその混合物の融点又はそれ以上の温度で、液体金属を、濃縮された金属粒子及び塩粒子と接触させて、塩粒子を置換して金属粒子を更に濃縮する請求項1に記載の方法。
- 元の塩成分の液体を、濃縮された金属粒子及び塩粒子と接触させて、塩粒子を溶解し又は置換して、金属粒子を更に濃縮する請求項1に記載の方法。
- 元の塩成分の液体混合物を、濃縮された金属粒子及び塩粒子と接触させて、塩粒子を溶解し又は置換して、金属粒子を更に濃縮する請求項1に記載の方法。
- 液体金属の元の成分は、アルカリ金属又はアルカリ土類金属又はそれらの混合物である請求項1に記載の方法。
- 液体の元の塩成分又はその混合物は、金属粒子の更なる濃縮の間に、金属粒子の合体温度より低い温度に保持する請求項1に記載の方法。
- 元の塩の成分の混合物は、NaClとCaCl2の共融混合物又は実質的な共融混合物である請求項7に記載の方法。
- 金属粒子は、Ti又はTi合金である請求項1に記載の方法。
- Ti合金は、Alが6%、Vが4%及び残部が実質的にTiである請求項9に記載の方法。
- 液体金属は、約600℃より高い温度に加熱されているナトリウムである請求項1に記載の方法。
- ナトリウムは、約800℃より高い温度に加熱されている請求項11に記載の方法。
- 液体の元の塩又はその混合物は、約600℃より高い温度に加熱されている請求項1に記載の方法。
- 金属粒子はTi又はTi合金であり、液体金属はNaであり、塩粒子はNaClである請求項1に記載の方法。
- 金属粒子は、Alが6%、Vが4%及び残部が実質的にTiであるTi合金である請求項14に記載の方法。
- 液体金属及び金属粒子及び塩粒子の元の成分のスラリーから金属粒子を分離する方法であって、
液体の塩を有する容器に元の成分のスラリーを入れること(ここで、最も軽い液体金属と最も重い金属粒子との比重の相違のために層が形成され、容器の底部に向かって金属粒子の濃度が増加する)、
容器から液体金属を除去すること、
容器からいくらかの液体の塩を伴う濃縮された金属粒子を分離すること、
金属粒子から塩を濾別すること、並びに
その後、冷却し、金属粒子から塩を水洗すること
を含んで成る方法。 - 液体の塩は、塩粒子と実質的に同じものである請求項16に記載の方法。
- 液体の塩は、塩粒子の混合物である請求項16に記載の方法。
- 液体の塩は、塩粒子の共融混合物又は実質的に共融混合物である請求項16に記載の方法。
- 共融混合物は、Na及びCaCl2を含む請求項19に記載の方法。
- 液体の塩は、約800℃より低い温度に維持されている請求項16に記載の方法。
- 液体の塩は、約600℃の温度に維持されている請求項16に記載の方法。
- 液体金属は、アルカリ金属又はアルカリ土類金属又はそれの混合物又はそれらの合金である請求項16に記載の方法。
- 液体金属は、Na又はMgである請求項16に記載の方法。
- 金属粒子が液体金属と一緒に除去されることを防止しながら、吸い込むことによって、容器から液体金属を取り出す請求項16に記載の方法。
