Abstract
1,209,931. Container closures. METAL CLOSURES Ltd. 5 Jan., 1968 [17 Jan., 1967] No. 2538/67. Heading B8T. A container, e.g. of glass, is provided with a metal, e.g. aluminium, screw cap 1, having a security band 4 engaged under a rib 8 projecting from the container neck, a compressed mass of flowed-in gasket material 12 being provided between a substantially cylindrical portion of the neck and a reduced diameter cap portion 27 in a zone extending for at least 1 mm. below the top of the cylindrical portion: During application to the container, a substantially cylindrical cap shell, Fig. 3 (not shown), is deformed into engagement with the neck thread, and the security band 4 is tucked under the rib 8, the cap shell being inwardly pressed at 27 to form the gasket, which may be of polyvinyl chloride.
