Abstract

1,263,571. Caps for bottles. PEPSICO Inc. 11 April, 1969 [29 Nov., 1968], No. 18815/69. Heading B8T. A container 10 with an elongated upstanding neck has a lip 34, an annular circumferential groove 28, to accommodate a crown cap 50, and with a screw threaded portion 38 below the groove 28 to take an alternative screw cap (80), Fig. 4 (not shown), made by roll-forming a cap blank on to the container. The annular groove 28 and the lip 34 have an extreme radius which is less than that of the rest of the neck. The threaded portion has threads of a pitch between two and three times that of the thread depth. An annular rib is formed below the threads around which the screw cap may be crimped in a tamper proof arrangement. The threaded portion extends down the neck substantially the same distance as that taken up by the combined groove 28 and lip 34. A screw resealing cap (62), Fig. 3 (not shown), may be used with a plastic sealing disc (72).
