Abstract

1,114,897. Caps for bottles. VEREINIGTE KAPSELFABRIKEN NACKENHEIM G.m.b.H. 20 July, 1965 [18 Feb., 1965], No. 30801/65. Heading B8T. A metal or plastics cap for a bottle has a peripheral weakening line 3 allowing separation of the cap crown 1 from a relatively long conical skirt 7 which contacts the bottle neck 4 only at its lower rim 11 and in a retaining groove 6 of the neck. As shown, the cap, which may be made of aluminium, has a cork or plastics sealing insert 2, and may be given a screw-thread by pressing it over the threaded bottle neck. In another form an unthreaded cap having two peripheral lines of slits engages a bottle having a grip cork. Preferred pitches for the taper of the conical skirt 7 are between 1: 12 and 1: 20.
