Abstract

993,633. Joining bars or tubes. ECLIPSE CABINET WORKS CO. Ltd. Dec. 18, 1962 [Sept. 19, 1961; March 30, 1962], Nos. 33442/61 and 12227/62. Heading E1K. Bars or tubes of metal or plastics have holes 11, Fig. 9, for joining them together with bolts and have a cover 12 of plastics which can be perforated to expose the holes. In joining two tubes 7a, 7b crossing one another the bolt 32, Fig. 10, passes through a plate 13, having prongs 14, 15, Fig. 3, engaging holes 11 in the tubes to prevent their relative rotation. The head of the bolt engages a plate 18 having prongs for engaging a hole 11. The end of a tube 7c is joined to the side of a tube 7b by means of a U-shaped member 21, Fig. 7, adapted to be sprung into the end of the tube 7c so that the ends 22 engage one another and the projections 23 engage holes 11. The bolt 32 engages a tapped hole 25 in the end of this member. A plate 28, Fig. 10, having prongs engaging a hole 11 and lugs engaging the end of the tube 7c prevents relative movement of the tubes 7b, 7c. Tubes are joined end to end by means of members 21, their bases 24 being welded or bolted together.
