Abstract

1,105,664. Tiering frames for pallets. BIRMINGHAM PALLET CO. Ltd. 13 March, 1967 [26 Feb., 1966], No. 8554/66. Heading B8H. A tiering frame for a pallet 10 comprises four angle-iron corner posts 11 and eight mild steel strip connecting members 12. Two keyhole type slots 18 are formed by pressing in each web of each corner post 11 with an upper portion 19 a narrower, lower portion 20 and a tapered, intermediate portion 21. Each member 12 has a headed lug 23 welded to each end and extending across the full width of the strip. In use the head of the lug 23 passes from the outside through the upper portion 19 of an appropriate slot 18 and is secured by being pushed downwards into the lower portion 20 where it is retained by friction, this engagement offering resistance to relative turning movements between the member 12 and the post 11 about an axis through the connection and normal to the web.
