Abstract

986,941. Release door fastenings. R. DUNCAN. Aug. 9, 1963 [Aug. 9, 1962], No. 30584/62. Heading E2A. A door 10 on being moved from the closed position Fig. 3, to the open position, Fig. 4, is held open by a bolt 20 pivoted, by a roller 17 engaging a floor mounted cam 22, into engagement with a keeper 23 sunk into the floor. In an alternative arrangement, Figs. 8 and 9 (not shown), the bolt is pivoted by a cam operated spring loaded shaft. In yet a further arrangement, Figs. 11 and 12 (not shown), the bolt is pivoted by a cam operated crank. The pin 21, on which the bolt 20 is mounted, is formed with a slotted, hexagonal, square or recessed head to enable the pin 21 to be rotated into engagement with a bridge piece 24, formed on the keeper 23, to hold the door open. Two keepers 23 and cams 22 may be provided to hold the door open in one of two positions displaced at least 40 degrees.
