Abstract

982,570. Injectors. GARRET CORPORATION. July 17, 1961 [July 18, 1960], No. 25881/61. Heading F1E. [Also in Division F2] An inflating device includes a nozzle 58, Fig. 3, for inducing air flow into a container 17, Fig. 1, e.g. an escape shoot, a non-return valve 40, 41, and means 60, for locking the valve in the closed position. Compressed air flows from bottle 11 through valve 13, regulator 14 to chamber 54 where it moves spring-loaded piston 55 downwardly. Key 67 and groove 66 cause the piston to rotate moving locking bar 60 to a position clear of the edges of the valve flaps. Air issuing from nozzle 58 induces ambient air thus opening valves 40, 41. With reduced compressed air pressure the valves 40, 41 close and air continues to flow from nozzle 58 until the pressure in chamber 54 acting on piston 55 is overcome by spring 56 and the piston moves upwardly to move the locking bar 60 into a position where the valve flaps are held closed.
