In means for fixing tiles or panels to walls, ceilings or other structures wherein a fixing plate I is carried by a supporting member 11 attached to the structure and is formed with slots 2 with resilient flanges 3 at their edges 4 to take screws 5 passed through the tiles or panels, the plate 1 has socket means for sliding engagement with the flange 9 of a supporting bar 10 attached to the structure. This socket means is created by forming the plate 1 with one or more rectangular openings 6 each having, on opposite edges, a bent-up tongue 11 with bends 7 and 8 giving a Z-section so that they extend parallel to the plate 1, the free opposed ends being shaped apart.
