Abstract

1,190,033. Laminates. REVERE COPPER & BRASS Inc. 15 May, 1967 [16 May, 1966], No. 22424/67. Heading B5N. [Also in Division C7] A building panel comprises a one-piece extruded metal core having a plurality of planar face-panel supporting elements 5 positioned in each of two spaced, parallel planes, the supporting elements in each plane being spaced laterally from one another in said plane with the space between elements in one plane positioned opposite a supporting element in the other plane, and web members 6 integrally formed with the elements 5 and extending between the spaced planes of supporting elements with opposite edges of each web member engaging the proximal longitudinal margin of each of the oppositely positioned supporting elements inwardly from the edges of these elements, and a face panel 7 secured to the planar face-panel supporting elements of each plane. The core 5 may be of extruded aluminium, and the panels 7 of a fire-resistant material such as a mixture of asbestos fibre and diatomaceous earth, the panels being secured to the core by a fire-resistant ureabased cement, or by screws or rivets. One or both the panels 7 may be covered with a decorative vinyl plastics sheet. The core may include edge flanges 8 between which a chine piece can be placed for joining adjacent panels edge-to-edge, or alternatively the flanges 8 at one edge may project and be arranged to fit between complementary flanges of an adjacent panel.
